Our Topic is `Whatever the Weather`

In English, children will be writing a recount of a nature walk. They will be writing weather poems and performing them! The children will be
learning how to write instructions and recap how to write lists. This will all build towards writing a postcard for our special balloon launch at the end
of the half term!
The children will be going on a nature walk
during this half term. Further details to follow!
The children will be learning about the weather in Science,
including investigating how to capture a raindrop. They will
learn about the Beaufort scale and the causes of some
extreme weathers.

We will continue to work on number and problem solving; children will be also be measuring
rainfall and temperature in Maths. They will learn the names of common 2D shapes. As well as
telling the time to half past the hour, the children will learn the days of the week and the months of
the year.
Children will be making collages of
seasonal trees in Art and painting in
the style of an artist.

Keep a weather diary.
Research the weather in a different country; can you compare it to our weather?
Make a kite and fly it on a windy day, don’t forget to take some pictures!
Collect the rain for the whole half term, how much will there be?
Create a detailed picture to show the changes in seasons.
Measure the amount of daylight.
Create a minibook containing pictures of you wearing clothing suitable for each weather type.
Go out on a rainy day and find the biggest, deepest puddle.
