EXAMPLE SYLLABUS Multi-Cultural Counseling (5463) Rockey Robbins 325-8442 Course Description The course will focus on helping students 1) gain greater knowledge of norms, values, traditions, beliefs, and world views of members of various cultural groups (racial, gender, sexual orientation, social class and the effect of these perceptions on behavior and learning styles, 2) demonstrate self-awareness of personal cultural biases and strategies for reducing them, 3) develop skills to effectively counsel clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and 4) become informed about multi-cultural research.
