Semi-technical Rescue Testing Fail Points Trainees must RE-TEST if they DO NOT do the following: General: Use correct command order Voice commands LOUDLY and CLEARLY Rotate through rope positions in correct order Belaying: Have correct belay stance and technique Wrap tree correctly Communicate 1-0 and 2-0 in the correct direction To Uphill rope handler if going up-hill To downhill rope handler if going down-hill Preload Fix tree wrap if preload fails Unwrap self and tree completely from rope before calling “off-belay” Uphill Rope Handler: Going Uphill Pick appropriate belay site (tree size, dead/alive) Account for penduluming and passage of litter uphill (not just one person but whole litter team) Responsive to Belayer’s calls of 2-0 and 1-0 Going Downhill Pad rope Check litter connection to belay line- biners opposite and opposed, figure-8 and back-up knots on the belay line attachment Relay commands between LC and Belayer if necessary Downhill Rope Handler: Going Uphill Plucking, w/o getting in belayer’s way Quickly removing hands from the system if the belayer has to brake Going Downhill Pick appropriate belay site (tree size, dead/alive) Account for penduluming and passage of litter downhill Clear path for litter team
