Instructions for installation and operation
Important
Before installation of a ViaAqua Multi-duty pond pump, please read and follow these
important safeguards and safety guidelines.








Do not operate ViaAqua® pump without being fully submersed at all times.
Doing so can cause permanent damage to the pump.
Do not reduce the intake or output tubing size
The national code requires that all pond equipment be plugged directly to a GFCI
electrical outlet. Consult an electrician
Never operate a ViaAqua® pump with an electronic wave maker or on/off timing
device. As such devices will cause permanent damage to the pump and/or
demagnetize the impeller.
Prior to maintenance on any electrical aquarium appliance or maintenance to the
pond, you must disconnect all electrical aquarium devices.
When operating a ViaAqua® pump inside a pond or a fountain the large prefilter
must be used. Failure to use prefilter will cause damage to the impeller and/or
pump.
Routine maintenance is required to insure the maximum performance and the
longevity of the ViaAqua® pump. See maintenance guidelines
The use of a surge suppressor is strongly recommended.
Application submersed operation
Follow all safeguards and safety guidelines
a. Verify that the pump size fits the application without dramatically restricting the
flow. Consult with your local dealer or manufacture’s guidelines for the size
pump needed for your specific application.
b. Do not reduce the input or output diameter of the pump
c. You must incorporate the prefilter when operation for a water circulation,
waterfalls, ponds and fountains.
d. Replace the impeller if there are any signs of damage or excess wear.
e. Failure to maintain a ViaAqua pump will cause permanent damage to the impeller
and/or pump. Routine maintenance is of the utmost importance to keep you pump
working well.
Internal operation with fountain head
a. Connect the additional prefilter to the main prefilter. See diagram
1. Open both clasps.
2. Now open the main prefilter
3. Connect the additional prefilter to the main prefilter
4. Close main prefilter
5. Secure both clasps
b. Place pump in desired location
1. If placed in a pond: Raise the pump off the bottom of the pond by a min.
of 6 inches when installing
c. See diagram 1.b for model WP1000E and 1.c for model WP2000E for fountain
head set up
d. Diverter valve enables water flow to be directed to either a water feature,
terminator UV sterilizer or a pond filter.
Helpful hints:
 Since there are many manufactures of filtration systems, please refer to the
manufactures instructions for installation and guidelines.
 Float valves will sure a consistent water level at all times. See your local dealer
for more information
Maintenance:
Routine maintenance is required every 30 days.
a. Disconnect the pump from the GFCI power supply prior to removing the pump
from the water
b. Open both clasps
c. Remove pump from main prefilter
d. Clean all prefilter
e. Remove the impeller well cover.
f. Once the impeller well cover is removed, slide both the impeller and shaft out of
the main body of the pump and clean well. Please not do not use any soap
detergents during cleaning.
g. After the impeller and shaft are cleaned, use a small brush to clean inside of the
motor housing.
h. Reassemble above parts and your ViaAqua® pump is again ready to use. Confirm
that all the washer and bushing a reassembled properly. Failure to do so will
cause permanent damage to the pump.
i. Insert back into main prefilter and attach additional prefilter
It the water flow is to decrease it is a clear sign that debris is in the impeller well or
the prefilter is clogged. It is the aquarist’s sole responsibility to ensure the pump is
maintained. Failure to do so will cause permanent damage to the pump.
Pond Precautions:






Plug the pump into a GFCI outlet
Before any maintenance on the pump or pond unplug all electrical components
Never yank/pull the pump by the cord. Failure to follow this guideline will cause
the pump to fail prematurely and or cause electrical shock.
Never reduce the intake or the output pipe diameter
When installing raise the pump a min. of 6”-12” from the bottom of the pond.
Due to the extreme conditions of a pond frequent cleaning of the prefilter and
pump are needed. If the intake of the pump is to clog and is not remedied it will
cause the pump to fail prematurely.
Note it is the hobbyist sole responsibility to insure a clean pond or water feature
failure to do so will cause premature failure of the pump.
Note it is the hobbyist sole responsibility to insure the GFCI electrical outlet is free
of water, calcium deposits, and magnesium deposits and or moisture failure to do so
will cause electrical shock and or fire.
