NOMADS’ – Nomads class will be studying the full armor of God’. Everyone is invited to join us in this 8 week study by Dr. David Jeremiah called “Spiritual Warfare: Terms of Engagement”. This study is based on Ephesians 6:10-18. Dr. Jeremiah will explain the nature of spiritual warfare and describe how to use each piece of the armor God has provided for us. As Christians we have already won the battle through Christ; however we should know Satan’s strategies and the reality of the war we are in. SEEKERS – The Seekers invite you to join us on our exploration of prayer based on the book Before Amen by Max Lucado. We will have a DVD lesson followed by much discussion and much laughter. Everyone is welcome to join us. YOUTH – Join us in the Youth Room Sunday mornings from 9:40-10:40 am as we study the book of Philippians. Snack and discussions available. Teddy Bear Ministry You are invited to hold a bear during joys and concerns and then take it and give it to someone who needs a word of encouragement, healing, or uplifting. We ask that you do not take one for yourself. We also welcome bears that you would like to donate. They don’t have to be new. We are able to clean most “old” bears. BOW #478 Holy and awesome God, we stand in your presence filled with regret for our many sins and failings. Though there is greatness in us, and a deep longing for goodness, we have often denied our better selves and refused to hear your voice calling us to rise to the full height of our humanity. For there is weakness in us, as well as strength. At times we choose to walk in darkness, our vision obscured. We do not care to look within, and we are unwilling to look beyond at those who need our help. O God, we are too weak to walk unaided. Be with us as a strong and wise friend, and teach us to walk by the light of your truth. Words of Assurance The Lord God is merciful and gracious, endlessly patient, loving, and true, showing mercy to thousands, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin, and granting pardon. Amen. (JEWISH PRAYER FOR FORGIVENESS, U.S.A., 20TH CENT.) UMH #881 Joys and Concerns Lord’s Prayer (see prayer in 8:30 Service Order of Worship) (You are invited, if you would like, to hold your neighbors hand during the Lord’s Prayer.) Offering/Doxology He got up and gave orders to the wind, and he said to the lake, “Silence! Be still!” The wind settled down and there was a great calm. 40 Jesus asked them, “Why are you frightened? Don’t you have faith yet?” 39 Overcome with awe, they said to each other, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!” 41 ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ VBS For Children 3 – 7 years old @ the FUMC June 23rd –June 25th from 9 - 11:30 am (A Time of Quiet Reflection) Affirmation of Faith Gale-force winds arose, and waves crashed against the boat so that the boat was swamped. 38 But Jesus was in the rear of the boat, sleeping on a pillow. They woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re drowning?” Family Pool Party We would like to invite everyone to celebrate the end of this fun week of VBS and Camp on Sunday, June 28th at the Johnson City Pool from 7:00-9:00 pm.
