Geriatrician Opportunity – Lancaster PA
Academics, clinical practice, long term care, medical direction and hospital consults all
available in a burgeoning geriatric practice in scenic Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
The practice: Geriatric Specialists of Lancaster General Health has grown rapidly over
the past 10 years, with a mission of meeting the needs of the frail older
individuals of the community, raising the local standard of care in long-term care,
and providing geriatric education. The practice has 3 office locations, 12
geriatricians, 3 geriatric nurse practitioners, and 2 geriatric fellows. Long-term
care is provided at 11 local facilities, and medical direction at 8 of them. The
practice coordinates a geriatric fellowship, with 2 fellows, and works with family
practice residents.
The hospital: Lancaster General Health is the largest and most influential medical
system in Lancaster County, with state of the art medical equipment, a full
spectrum of medical specialties, a 600+ bed hospital, and non-profit community
based commitment to the Lancaster region.
The employment: Lancaster General Health is currently seeking a Geriatrician to join
our Senior Services as attending geriatrician and physician faculty member in the
Geriatric Fellowship. We encourage each of our physicians to develop their own
areas of interest. Opportunities may include:
 Attend, precept, and maintain a continuity practice one of the Geriatric
Specialist offices
 Attend and maintain a continuity practice at a local nursing home facility
and serve as a Medical Director as needed by the Geriatric Specialists
Practice.
 Serve as attending physician on the Geriatric Specialists Inpatient Service
(consult service) in rotation with Geriatric Specialists Faculty and Fellows
with no more than one weekend per month
 Take office/LTC night call from home (< every 10 days) and weekend call
(<every 2 months) in rotation with other Geriatric faculty and Fellows.
 Attend faculty and hospital committee meetings as designated by the
practice lead physician

Geriatric Specialists


Contribute to the development of the geriatric fellowship curriculum and
help to assure implementation of the education and training objectives of
the Geriatric curriculum; attend monthly Geriatric education/case review;
audit fellow and resident performance via patient and record review; serve
as faculty advisor; conduct formal evaluations; counsel fellows.
Acquire the necessary CME credits and take the certification examination
to maintain re-certification status by the ABFP/ABIM, and maintain
Certificate of Added Qualifications every 10 years.
The requirements:
 Board certification in FP or IM
 Board certification (or eligible) in geriatrics; fellowship training preferred
 At least 2 years patient care experience in geriatrics
