Project Engineer JOB TITLE: Project Engineer Reporting to: Contracts Director Located: London/Uckfield Company Details ITM Monitoring Limited specialises in the supply and installation of high quality geotechnical and structural instrumentation to monitor movement in foundations and construction for civil engineering works, mining projects and the railway infrastructure throughout the United Kingdom and worldwide. ITM has access to and can system integrate a large range of standard instruments for monitoring earth, rock and concrete structures including dams, tunnels, embankments, retaining walls, piles and steel work. In addition to the standard range of instrumentation, ITM can supply specially engineered packages to meet specific requirements. We also manufacture data acquisition systems associated with geotechnical instrumentation and offer packages to meet project requirements. ITM operates geotechnical and structural monitoring companies throughout the world. Overall Job Scope To organise, undertake and deliver the installation of large, project specific monitoring systems, and to assist the Project Manager and delivery team in achieving this. Core Activities, Duties and Key Tasks Assist the Project Manager in delivering the project on time and within budget Monitor and assess financial expenditure on the project and provide feedback to Quantity Surveyor for invoicing and payment application purposes Provide regular feedback to the Project Manager regarding on site progress Provide support, training and tasks to Project Technicians and generally assist in their development Liaise with the Programme Manager and provide feedback to develop and deliver the contract Programme Provide cover for the Project Manager during leave periods Attend progress meetings with the Client Administer and record key documents of the project contract including RFIs, NCRs, EWNs etc Undertake site visits to design monitoring system to suit the particular on-site environment Procure all equipment (£00k’s) and liaise with Operations Manager to enable ordering of equipment Produce method statements, risk assessments and additional health and safety documents as necessary to enable site works to commence Produce and apply for permits and licences (e.g. LU/DLR/NR) to obtain permission and access for on-site works Produce installation documentation, proposals and design to third parties for approval Review and submit key documents to Client and third parties Record and update the progress of permits and applications prior to and during the work Liaise and meet with the Client throughout all stages of planning and installation ITM Monitoring Limited Page 1 of 3 Liaise and meet with third parties to discuss planned on-site works Liaise and meet with suppliers and sub-contractors to enable supply and delivery of the work Liaise with the Operations Manager throughout the works and provide feedback on staff requirements Liaise and work closely with the Technical Department throughout all stages of the design and installation process to deliver the installation of the monitoring system and solve any problems with instrumentation Liaise with Site Technicians throughout all stages of on-site works and provide technical/logistical support where necessary Provide inductions, briefings, toolbox talks etc to ITM personnel and sub-contractors who need to attend site prior to and during the works Carry out site safety inspections at regular intervals and provide feedback to the H&S Advisor Set out on-site installations for Site Technicians Carry out on-site installations where/when possible Solve on-site issues and problems which may delay the work Arrange for survey teams to carry out regular manual surveying on site Provide daily feedback to the Client on the progress of the works Analyse and review data from instrumentation using monitoring software (Argus/Calyx) Liaise with the Client and third parties to discuss monitoring data Carry out any other adhoc tasks as required Take reasonable care for the Health and Safety of yourself and any other persons who may be affected by your acts and to co-operate with ITM Monitoring Ltd in order that the employer’s duty may be fulfilled.
