A decent entry on offer today and some marvellous top end bulls on offer, trade was
remarkably better on the week with buyers the keenest we have seen for many weeks with
all qualities 10-15 pence dearer on the week.
Never one to stand on the fence, without doubt the main larger Abattoirs have formed a
cartel with all singing from the same hymn sheet, all quoting similar prices all penalising the
producers on weight and age of bulls, we have started this week showing you the prices
achieved for over 16 month old bulls – these bulls would be reduced by some £200-£300
per head if sold deadweight to many Irish owned Abattoirs who make no bones about it are
trying to screw the Industry.
We Livestock Auctioneers want to make more of your stock, in fact we are the only ones
who want to do it. Everybody else that comes on your farm wants you to have less – and
it’s as simple as this, you desert the Auctions and when Auctions are no more you will find
out exactly where you will be – right in the shite – right up to your neck and beyond!! Cast
your mind backs to Foot and Mouth 2001 – markets shut for a year the whole industry in
their hands – and what did they do? Give you a proper Royal Rogering!!
