Meeting Date: Tuesday, January 10, 2012

I.
Opening Prayer
A. Fr. Bill led the group in song and prayer.
II.
Roll Call
A. Members Present: Mike Guilette, Laura Krzysiak, Heather Vardon, Jacque Wiese, Rob Moede,
Father Bill, Jane Haase, Mark Grosbeier
B. Absent: Kevin Guilette
III.
Approval of Agenda
A. The agenda was reviewed as written – One item added: under New Business, “Calendar Change
was added and approved.
IV.
Approval of Minutes/Financial Statement
A. Finance statement was reviewed and approved as written. Meeting minutes from December
2011 were reviewed and approved with the addition of Jane Haase being in attendance.

Correspondence –
A. None
VI.
Council Reports
A. Administrator – oral report given by Laura. Laura Meikles is substituting for Ms. G. Laura is
working with 2 other schools principals coordinating a “Data Retreat” for June 2012. They have
also agreed to do a joint Spiritual Retreat this year. A $10,000 anonymous donation was
received for the school’s endowment fund. Laura has applied for grants to help cover costs for
the “Call to Discipleship” and costs of fees for catechists among other things.
B. Laura will be attending a grant writing workshop this month. She will also be attending a
workshop on the “Acre Testing.” Eclipse – online school curriculum program – easily tailored to
our needs – web-based. Entire diocese will cost $7000.00. Teachers can put their entire lesson
planning on this tool. Southern Door Musical January 27, 2012. Jan 23 – 8th graders going to
Roncalli for their annual retreat. Second round of MAP testing has begun.
C. Athletic Director – None.
D. Building and Grounds –
1. Condensate pipe leak –not a gas leak – occurred on Friday. An 11 foot section will be
replaced tomorrow.
2. A sink in the Art Room was replaced over the holidays; the door jamb was also replaced in
that room.
3. Plastering at the end of the basement hall will be done in the next couple of weeks.
4. Storage closets in the classrooms have all been repainted.
E. Home and School – None. Committee meets next week.
F. Public Relations – Promo committee did a great job sending out invitations to the elderly in the
community for the Christmas program. It was very well attended and received. Quilt and
promotion of quilt raffle will be done at the Stewardship Weekend this coming weekend.
VII. Old Business
A. Policy on early enrollment – approved as written in the 2nd draft.
B. Update on Wellness Committee – committee has not met yet. They will meet Tuesday, January
17th at 6:30pm in Parish office. Jane will send out a reminder email to those on the committee.
C. Program evaluations – school board members brought questions and turned them in to Laura for
compilation of evaluating the language arts programs. Survey will be sent out at the end of
March 2012. A school-wide writing assessment will also be given during this time. These
writing assessments will be evaluated by teachers in other grades.
D. Endowment Report – written report prepared for review – does not include recent donations.
Currently, we are able to pull out $3256.67 to put towards this year’s budget. The Board
discussed whether or not to withdraw this amount of money or not. The Board approved the
withdrawal of this amount.
E. Alumni Fund Drive Report - $3390 has been received so far this year. Laura will be writing a
newsletter for St. Mary’s Alumni. 200 copies of this newsletter will be sent out tomorrow.
VIII. New Business
IX.
A. Winterfest Update: Feb 4, 2012 from 12:00 – 10:00pm. Old-Fashioned Chicken Dinner will be
served. There will be card party this year. The “Milk Man” will be returning to be our DJ. Live
Auction, Silent Auction, Teen Room and Kids Area from 12pm – 6pm, and a Babysitting area
from 6pm – 9:45pm. There will not be a cupcake walk this year, but the cake walk will continue.
B. Catholic Schools Week – planning Update – Children’s Choir and readers – January 29, 2012,
8:15 mass. Students and their parents will greet people as they come in for mass. A coffee and
juice reception will be held by the teachers after mass.
1. Monday - “Coins for a Cause” – donated money will go the Kewaunee County Food Pantry –
some of the older students will go over to the food pantry during the week.
2. Tuesday – Academic Bowl.
3. Wednesday – “Drop Everything and Pray” day
4. Thursday – Mass at 10:15. Lunch after lunch. Parent appreciation day.
5. Friday – Life Skills Day
C. Calendar Change – March 9th School WILL be in session – the Diocese is not having a spring
Teacher inservice this year. March 16th there will be no school.
D. A Leadership Summit will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012. During this summit, Father
Bill will give a “State of the Parish” presentation and there will be discussion on goal setting for
our parish for the next 3-5 years. More details to follow.
