Bob Alger CSR 309 03/12/09 Living obituary of Laura Lemanski Recently I had a chance to get acquainted with Laura Lemanski and the first thing I noticed before we even had a chance to sit down was her great sense of humor. Not only does she have a great sense of humor she is also very personable and easy to talk to. Quite simply put Laura’s sarcasm, wit, and lack of pretension make her a very fun person to be around. Additionally she is very laid back in most aspects of life and tends not to sweat the small stuff. Despite this, for Laura things are not all fun and games as she keeps up her grades by putting effort into her school work and practicing her horse riding on a regular basis. While riding horses competitively is a foreign concept to most people Laura has been doing it since she was a child back home in the North West suburbs of Chicago. Although she sold her horse when she came to college five years ago she has managed to stay involved in the sport by joining the Purdue Equestrian Team and now serves as an assistant coach. Despite competing in and watching numerous horse shows Laura still has time to hang out with friends and watch many different TV shows. Another interesting aspect of Laura’s life is that she is currently an alumnus in the Delta Gamma sorority, another indicator of her outstanding social skills. Five years ago Laura decided to come to Purdue, mainly because it is a Big Ten school; it has an athletic training program, and an active equestrian team which to this day she participates in. The fact that Purdue is a good distance from her home and her brother went here affected her decision as well. Despite meeting all of the criteria that she wanted in a school, Purdue still took some time to get used to. After first arriving here Laura entered the School of Management which she soon realized was not her passion and transferred to Selling and Sales Management. She has been in that major ever since and when she graduates this December she plans on using her degree to get a sales job in Chicago. As for the short term Laura plans on enjoying her spring break trip to St. Augustine, Florida and relaxing on the beach. The image of her on such a trip most definitely reinforces the embodiment of her as an easy going and fun person to be around. While this description can by no means encompass her whole life the mere essence of Laura is that she is someone worth taking the time to get to know.
