ENG 2D Summative: Biography For the final summative for ENG2D course (worth 10% of your overall grade), each student will choose a biography or autobiography and obtain a copy from the school library, the public library, or purchase it. You will need a copy of the book for approximately 5-6 weeks. The deadline date for choosing your book is Fri. April 8. What is a biography? An account of a person's life written, composed, or produced by another What is an autobiography? A history of a person’s life, written or told by that person Your summative consists of two sections: the Process and the Creative Presentation A. Process: Log #1 Log #2 Log #3 Early Life/Introduction To be completed in class Wed. April 20 Significant Event in Subject’s Life To be completed in class Mon. May 2 Analysis, Reflection on Biography and Presentation Plan To be competed at home Wed. May 11 B. Presentation: You may choose one of the following options to present the life of your subject. It is important that you show the connection between the biography and your presentation. For example, demonstrate how the novel inspired your particular presentation and support it with examples or quotations from the book. Creative Presentation Options Talk Show Interview Tabloid Double-page Spread A&E style Biography Documentary Dramatic Monologue Funeral Eulogy Presentation Hall of Fame/Museum Exhibit Specific Requirements Like Ellen, Oprah or Larry King Live. Could be in video form or live. Suggested time 3-5 minutes. Like People Magazine, including photos and concise text (must be exactly 4 pages). Photos and articles will require captions. A video to include commentary by friends, colleague, and family members to create an accurate portrait of your subject. Live performance of 3-5 minutes, rendering your subject’s thoughts and feelings, in first-person… Bring in an object that would typify your subject. You must hand in your script. Use Photostory 3 to create a visual presentation (with music) that would be played at your subject’s funeral; deliver a 2-3 minute eulogy to accompany it, and submit your script. 3-D display which includes photos, diary entries, representative objects, facts and/or statistics. This will be presented. All presentations are to be done individually and they will be shared with the class. Presentations should take approximately 3-5 minutes.
