• GCHS Newsletter DCCF SCHOLARSHIPS The Decatur County Community Foundation will be making local scholarship applications and information available to seniors on Monday, January 4th. All scholarship application information will be posted on the Decatur County Community Foundation's website: www.dccfound.org. There will be a link under "Scholarships" to access the local scholarship applications. The Decatur County Community Foundation local scholarship applications will be due to the Foundation on Monday, February 1st. OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS Local scholarships and scholarships governed by the School Corporation will be available the beginning of March and due mid-April. SENIOR PARENT FINANCIAL AID MEETING There will be a Financial Aid Meeting on Monday, January 4th beginning at 6:30 PM in the high school auditorium. This meeting will focus on different types of federal and state aid, the filing process, and a detailed look into filling out the required Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Senior parents are reminded that the FAFSA must be filed between January !stand March 10th. Be aware that some schools require a March 1st deadline. Get your FSA ID number now. Figure those 2015 income taxes. Meet the FAFSA filing deadline. Twenty-first Century Scholars must file the FAFSA. Do not pay online to file this form - it is a free process! Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to file the FAFSA. SAT PREPARATION CLASSES This is just a reminder for juniors who have already signed up: SAT Preparation Classes will begin on January 4th. For the first 6 weeks, students will meet on Monday and then meet twice a week on Monday and Thursday for the 2 weeks leading up to the March 5th SAT Test. JUNIORS NEED TO REGISTER FOR THE SAT TEST !!! The SAT Test will be given here at Greensburg High School on Saturday, March 5th. Students need to register with the College Board by the registration deadline of Friday, February 5th. Cost for taking an SAT Test is $54.50. If juniors want to take the SAT Test another time this spring, a student must register with the College Board by the following deadlines. Parents will need to sign the enrollment information and then students will meet individually with their high school counselor to sign up for their next school year classes. SECOND SEMESTER DUAL CREDIT Students enrolled this second semester in Information Communications & Technology II; Finite Math; Trigonometry; Digital Design; Entrepreneurship and New Ventures; and Computer Illustration & Graphics are already registered for dual credit. Any student who does not meet the testing requirement will have an opportunity to take SAT, ACT, and I or Accuplacer during the second semester. Page3
