1. Exhibit knowledge of the massive graphic
communication industry as it impacts the
socio-economic environment globally.
Eighty percent of graphic communication
student majors will pass the core Graphic
communication courses of graphic arts
processes, lithography, graphic design
principles, basic computer operation and
photography with a B grade or better.
Over 80% of graduating students will respond to Exit
Capstone item: “Their ability to apply analytical
and critical thinking skills to graphic
communication problems” is either excellent or
above average.
2. Demonstrate ability to apply the theory
and concepts of mathematics, chemistry
and biological science.
Eighty percent of graphic communication
students will pass the university core of 6 hrs.
mathematics, and 8 hrs. sciences with a C
grade or better.
Third year of all graphic design students will
respond to feedback on academic audit. The
division director will analyze grade audits by
random sample of student work reviewed by track
coordinators. Students less than C grade must
retake course(s).
3. Demonstrate ability to make presentations
in oral and written form.
4. Demonstrate ability to utilize graphic and
preparatory software which meets industry
standards.
In track capstone project and senior exit
interview, portfolio and presentation, 80% of
graphic communication students will pass the
project and presentation with a B grade or
better.
Eighty percent of graphic communication
students will pass a Comprehensive exist
examination in GRA Basic Computer
Operation, and GRA Electronic Prepress for
Publishing with a B grade or better.
End of academic year student feedback survey.
Eighty percent of employer survey will indicate
that FAMU graduates are above average in oral,
written skills performance and making
presentations.
Over 80% of Internship Employers will respond to
the Internship Evaluation item: “Student’s ability to
apply computer design and preparatory software,
knowledge of design and technical manipulative
skills to graphic communication projects” is either
excellent or above average.
5. Demonstrate ability to assume responsible
positions in one of the following major
fields: printing management, printing
production or photography.
Eighty percent of graphic communication
students will exhibit proficiency in one of the
following major fields: printing management,
printing production and photography with a
grade point average of B grade or better in all
GRA/PGY courses.
Over 80% of Alumni will respond to the Alumni
Evaluation item: “My ability to apply special
professional skill (analytical and critical thinking
skills) on the job” is excellent.
6. Demonstrate ability to employ ethical
decision-making and value-based
judgments in academic and professional
pursuits.
Eighty percent of graphic communication
students exhibit decision making skills in
management core courses (GRA and MAN
management) and with a passing grade of B or
better.
Over 80% of Internship Employer Evaluation item:
“Graphic Communication Student’s ability to apply
ethical decision-making and value-based
judgment to business problems on the job” is
excellent or above average.
7. Demonstrate ability to identify the
significance of life-long learning skills and
their application to career advancement.
As part of assessing this outcome, 80% of
graphic design Students will pass their
professional development courses
(GRA Colloquiums, Graphic Arts Seminar and
Professional Development) that reflected in the
capstone project with a grade of B or better.

that FAMU students are above average in
knowledge, interpersonal skills and expertise used
in entry-level positions
8. Demonstrate cumulative knowledge of
printing management, printing production
or photography via a comprehensive
