Awarded annually to an outstanding student proceeding from Third to Fourth
year in the Political Science program. Recipient will have demonstrated
financial need, must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada

residency requirements. Endowed in 2005 by family, friends and colleagues
of David J Bellamy, former faculty member of the Department of Political
Science.
Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student who is a child of
an Alumnus of Carleton University and is entering or proceeding from one
year to another in any area of study. Application is required. Eligible
students will have a parent who is an alumnus of Carleton University and
students must demonstrate engagement in civic, community or secondary
and post-secondary school activities. Endowed in 2006 by Gerard Buss,
BA/73 and his wife Tammy.
Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student entering or
proceeding from one year to another in an Interdisciplinary Studies program
that involves the arts, social and natural sciences. Endowed in 2001 by Dr.
Arthur J. Carty.
Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student who is entering or
proceeding from one year to another in the Bachelor of Engineering program.
Endowed in 2006 by the Engineering classes of 1965 and 1966 in recognition
of their 2006 class reunion.

Awarded annually to a female undergraduate student athlete who is listed on
a CIS/OUA Eligibility Certificate as a member of the Carleton University
Women’s Varsity Soccer team. Eligible students must comply with CIS and
OUA academic eligibility requirements. A committee determined by the
Awards Office and the Department of Recreation and Athletics will select the
recipient of the award. If in a given year there is no qualified candidate from
the Women's Varsity Soccer team, then this award may be awarded to a
qualified athlete participating on another women's varsity sport team.

Awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student entering or
proceeding from one year to another in the Sprott School of Business.

Awarded annually to an undergraduate student proceeding from one year to
another in the School of Industrial Design. Recipient will have demonstrated
financial need, must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
(landed immigrant or protected person), and must meet OSAP’s Ontario
residency requirements. Endowed in 2006 by Michael and Krista Prochazka.
Awarded annually in alternating years to a student proceeding from Third to
Fourth year in the Political Science Honours program and a student
proceeding from Third to Fourth year in the Law Honours program. Recipients
will have demonstrated financial need, must be Canadian citizens or
permanent residents of Canada (landed immigrants or protected persons),
and must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements. Endowed in 2006
by Jean-Pierre Goyette in memory of his mother.

Awarded annually to deserving students who have demonstrated a
commitment to furthering their education and who require financial assistance
in order to attend Carleton University. Preference will be given to students in
the Centre for Initiatives in Education Enriched Support Program. Endowed
in 2002 by Mrs. Lucinda (Cindy) E. Boucher, BA/75, former Vice-President
(Advancement), Carleton University.
Awarded annually to an undergraduate student in the School of Journalism
and Communication. The recipient will be selected by the Director of the
School of Journalism and Communication, on the recommendation of the ElAggan Steering Committee. Eligible students will have demonstrated
financial need, must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada
(landed immigrants or protected persons) and must meet OSAP's Ontario
residency requirements. Recipient must be a member of the Muslim
community and demonstrate interest in the area of human rights for Muslims
in Canada. Preference will be given to a female student who is active in the
Muslim community, in Canada. An application is required. Endowed in 2006
by the El-Aggan family.

must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements. Endowed in 2006 by
Andrew and Stephen Lieff in loving memory of their mother Hilda Lieff, a
proud booster and long time employee of Carleton University, who believed
passionately in the importance of a university education.
Awarded annually to an undergraduate student from an Ontario high school,
who requires financial assistance in order to attend Carleton University.
Eligible students must demonstrate academic promise, community leadership
and participation in extra-curricular secondary school activities or community
service. Serious consideration will be given to a graduate of Glebe
Collegiate, Ottawa, Ontario due to the Yeomans' family's long association
with the institution. Recipient will have demonstrated financial need, must be
Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada (landed immigrant or
protected person), and must meet OSAP’s Ontario residency requirements.
Endowed in 2007 by the family of Don Yeomans to recognize and honour his
active roles in stewardship and leadership at Carleton University.

who enjoyed playing her grand piano into her 90's.

Awarded annually to a deserving undergraduate student in the Civil

Old Terms
Value $600. Awarded annually, one on the recommendation of the Chair of
the Department of History to a student enrolled in a history course who
submits the best essay that address the topic of freedom of the press and/or
the right of access to the use of this medium by individuals and organizations.
A case history method study will be favoured over a generalized essay. The
award is provided from interest generated by The John Hanson Fund. Donor:
J. Carlisle Hanson, Q.C. Endowed 1982 in honour of John Hanson, a
Canadian pioneer who, during his lifetime (1793-1820), established a
settlement at Chamcook Island, New Brunswick. Revised 1999.

Awarded annually, when merited, two awards made on the recommendation
of the Chair of the Department of History for outstanding essay writing. One
award will be given to the student(s) writing the best essay on freedom of the

press and/or the right of access to the use of this medium by individuals and
organizations. The other award will be given to the student(s) writing the best
essay on government, media and Canadian foreign policy. A minimum of one
award in each category will be given. Donor: J. Carlisle Hanson, Q.C.

Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund Phase II was established by Gov. of Ontario to encourage companies & individuals to contribute to permanent endowment funds to assist students in
financial need. Eligible cash donations raised by institutions were matched by the Province. Awards restricted to students who meet provincial residency requirements as defined by OSAP.
OTSS
Ontario Trust for Student Support program was established in 2005/2006 by the Gov. of Ontario to encourage companies & individuals to contribute to permanent endowment funds to assist
Ontario’s college and university students with financial need. Eligible cash donations raised by institutions are matched by the Province. The OTSS recipient must be a Canadian citizen, a
permanent resident or a protected person, must meet provincial residency requirements as set out in the Ontario Student Assistance Program’s 2006-2007 Student Eligibility and Financial Need
Manual and must demonstrate financial need.
