POSTGRADUATE FUNDING
If you are considering or have already applied for a postgraduate course with any of
the below schools, you will be interested to know that there are a number of
competitive scholarships available for UK/EU students.

Students are only eligible to apply for a scholarship once they have been made an
offer to study on an eligible programme.
Progression discount scheme
If you are an existing Nottingham Trent University student and choose to progress
onto a full-time Masters course, you may be entitled to a discount on your course fee.
Progression discounts are currently available for courses in the School of Art &
Design, the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, Nottingham
Business School, Nottingham Law School and the School of Social Sciences. Please

Other funding opportunities
Public funding for postgraduate students in the UK is mainly provided by research
councils and boards. The situation varies depending on a range of factors including
the nature of the study/course and the institution where you intend to study.
Most funding for academic courses stems from the six Research Councils and the Arts
and Humanities Research Board.

Scholarships
The Association of Commonwealth Universities advertise both scholarships and
courses for universities in the UK and overseas, particularly in Australia, New
Zealand and Canada.
Institutional funding and employment

Charities and trusts
A large number of organisations make awards although these are usually for
small amounts.

MBA loan scheme
The MBA Loan Scheme is financed by NatWest Bank and is administered by

Helps women gain qualifications which their employment prospects. Applicants must
be aged 25-50. Grants are given for a range of certain courses, including Access, Alevel, BTEC National, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 upwards, GNVQ Advanced, Art
Foundation, NNEB, HND and first degrees. Cannot help with evening classes or short
courses. Postgraduate applicants are considered for interest free loans. Grants or
loans may be made for fees, maintenance or childcare costs, but the Fund cannot help
disabled students purchase specialised equipment.
Applicants should write to the Administrator of the Fund giving: age; title, level and
duration of course; and a brief statement as to why they need financial assistance.
Eligible applicants will be sent an application form. All enquiries will be acknowledged.

British and Israeli students under 30 years of age on a approved postgraduate course,
or on a course in Medicine or Veterinary Science, at a British university in the UK.
Grants for general education costs. The later years of three or four year courses (PhD)
are preferred to the earlier years. Applications from eligible students are judged
mainly on their academic record and merit; the credibility of their funding plan; their
commitment and their subject. No grants are available for electives or intercalated
degrees. Typical grants are in the range of £400 - £1,000. Students on multi-year
courses may apply for a second grant.
Applications should be submitted between March or April. For an application form

This foundation is open to students in further education and selected vocational MA'S
but not for degree students. The foundation has help with fees, travel over £20 per
week. Applicants need to apply in writing with all details of themselves and the course
and costs.
