Grants are given for a range of certain courses, including Access, Alevel, BTEC National, City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2 upwards, GNVQ Advanced, Art Foundation, NNEB, HND and first degrees. Cannot help with evening classes or short courses. Postgraduate applicants are considered for interest free loans. Grants or loans may be made for fees, maintenance or childcare costs, but the Fund cannot help disabled students purchase specialised equipment. Applicants should write to the Administrator of the Fund giving: age; title, level and duration of course; and a brief statement as to why they need financial assistance. Eligible applicants will be sent an application form. All enquiries will be acknowledged. Grants for general education costs. The later years of three or four year courses (PhD) are preferred to the earlier years. Applications from eligible students are judged mainly on their academic record and merit; the credibility of their funding plan; their commitment and their subject. No grants are available for electives or intercalated degrees. Typical grants are in the range of £400 - £1,000. Students on multi-year courses may apply for a second grant.
