CRAFTed Programme Crafts person: Anne Harrington Rees School: Canovee National School, Cork Dedicated Teacher: Fidelma Ahern Participating class: Senior Infants Average age and size of group: 20 x 5 and 6 year olds 1. Project Outline Looking at the local landscape through direct observation, maps and photographs and using these stimuli with a variety of techniques learned over five weeks to create 2D images and a 3D model of the area. The techniques used were papier maché, felt making, weaving and wire modelling, as well as drawing and painting. 2. Materials Used / Sourced White paper, masking tape, name labels, PVA glue, Blu Tack, Pritt Stick glue, soap, cotton string, paint, paint brushes - school had and /or purchased from local stationers. 3. Aims + Objectives To introduce the differences between, and the ideas of working in 2D and 3D and to develop an understanding of 2D and 3D representations of an object/place. 4. Examples of Integration with the SESE Curriculum Geography: Natural Environments Science: Living things: Plants – difference between evergreen and deciduous plants. Working to sort and classify the leaves into different colours. Science: Materials: Discussing the properties and characteristics of materials seen in Anne’s work, and what would happen to paper if it was left outdoors. Report Prepared November 2010
