Strategic purpose statement
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the manufacturing
industry with people who have the advanced skills and
knowledge required to manage and improve a production
process on a manufacturing site.
Graduates will be able to manage adherence to compliance
standards and apply knowledge of quality assurance to improve
end-product quality.
They will be able to achieve and improve on key performance
indicators (KPIs) relevant to manufacturing, troubleshoot and
resolve production issues at process level and also deliver
measureable improvement to productivity and quality.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to:

Apply knowledge of audit processes and compliance
standards, to manage technical and quality requirements of
a manufacturing operation to meet customer expectations

Apply knowledge of company KPIs to manage and improve
quality and production in a manufacturing operation

Analyse data and information, and use problem-solving
techniques, to identify and troubleshoot manufacturing
production and quality issues, and implement actions to
resolve issues

Apply analytical and innovative thinking to develop new ideas
to improve production efficiency and product quality

Employment pathway
Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge
to work in advanced operational roles as process technologists
or production supervisors in the manufacturing industry.

Qualification award
This qualification can be awarded by an organisation which has
an approved programme of study or industry training programme
leading to the qualification.
The certificate will display the logo of the NZQF and may display
the name and/or logo of the awarding body.
Evidence requirements for
assuring consistency
All TEOs either arranging training or delivering programmes that
lead to the award of the qualification are required to participate in
a consistency process scheduled by NZQA.
This will involve reviewing evidence associated with graduate’s
achievement of outcomes, and agreeing acceptable thresholds
for qualification outcome achievement, and areas for
improvement.
To demonstrate how graduates are achieving the qualification
graduate profile outcomes, TEOs are required to produce their
own evidence in a high level report.
Evidence will include the following:

Employer surveys to determine if graduates of the
qualification meet graduate profile outcomes

Evidence of effective processes to ensure programmes
continue to meet current industry needs
-
A range of workplace evidence demonstrating that graduates
meet the graduate profile outcomes

Any other relevant evidence as appropriate

Credit transfer and recognition of
prior learning arrangements
Organisations seeking approval to award the qualification are
expected to have Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) or
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment processes in
place.
Credit transfer will be automatic where assessment standards
are used for assessment within programmes of study or training
leading to this qualification.

Replacement information
This qualification replaces the New Zealand Certificate in Wood
Manufacturing (Advanced Processing) (Level 5) [Ref: 2314].
The last date for entry into the replaced qualification is 31 December 2016. The last date for assessment
against the replaced qualification is 31 December 2018.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.
However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Competenz at the
address below. Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
