Job Summary and Purpose: A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University and CDO2 Ltd to improve CDO2’s use large-scale Grid infrastructures running sophisticated compute-hungry financial risk analysis. 6. Main Responsibilities/Activities: (6-10 in order of priority) % Time 1) Undertake reviews of technologies, and CDO2’s methodology, to 15% discover new techniques applicable to the analysis offered by CDO2. 2) Prioritise and recommend techniques and technologies, including the notion of self-tuning risk models, likely to demonstrate noticeable customer benefit 3) Demonstrate and evaluate, via software prototypes, substantive and incremental improvements in the CDO2 code base, and embed improvements in the company’s offering to the market. Explore the use of computational cluster test beds at Surrey and CDO2 4) Attract new customers to new functionality, enhance existing market and undertake increasing responsibility for developmental efforts. 15% 60% 10% 7. Relationships and Contacts: The postholder will work closely with the Knowledge Base Supervisor and Company Supervisor and liaise with the University KTP Office and central KTP management where appropriate. Job Dimensions: The key output is to develop the capability to deliver Grid-based computations for the financial sector. The postholder will be expected to undertake an NVQ level 4 in Management and will be offered the opportunity to study for a higher degree. The combined industry and academic supervision will provide the postholder with a unique understanding of a broad spectrum of markets and international business. 10. Background Information: The project is funded by the Department of Trade and Industry through the KTP initiative and by CDO2 Ltd. Knowledge Transfer Partnerships are collaborative projects between a University and a company partner providing the opportunity to fast track careers by benefiting from business based training and personal and professional development, whilst managing a project within a company. The postholder will be based primarily at CDO2 Ltd company premises in London. Contact with the supervisors will be maintained through regular meetings at CDO2 Ltd and occasional visits to the University.
