The market is licenced to accept cattle from TB Restricted Herds, ie. Herds that have had a TB breakdown in our Red (Slaughter only) markets subject to the following conditions: a. The animals being presented for sale must have had a negative TB test in the previous 30 days b. In order for you to bring your stock here you will need to obtain a licence (TB24B) from your local Defra Animal Health Office. Obviously there will be many concerns and questions that you may have, we will continue to update you in this publication or better still ring anytime *** SHEEP EID The following applies to movements made from 01.01.2011 – for sheep indentified since 1st January 2010 1. 2. Lambs/Hoggets destined for slaughter before they reach 12 months of age and identified with a single tag bearing flock mark (electronic or manual) These sheep can be recorded on movement documents as a batch. There is NO requirement to list all the flock numbers, even when a “batch within batch” consignment is moved. Lambs/ Hoggets (Stores) must be double tagged and must be electronic These sheep MUST be individually identified on the movement document, unless they are moving to Newark or any other approved CPRC (Central Point Recording Centre) where the tags will be read and recorded on behalf of the keeper. Keepers using the CPRC facility must populate their Holding Register with the read information within 48 hours of the sheep leaving their holding Holding Registers: 1. ALL sheep moved MUST be recorded in the keepers Holding Register “Keepers” include: farmers, dealers, markets, abattoirs etc. This has been a requirement since 31 st December 2009. Doug and Rachel Gascoine sold Limousins to 194.5p - £1106.71 and 179.5p - £1008.79. Alan Twell sold Simmentals to 176.5p - £1136.66. Without doubt many many more Feeders could have been well sold – Don’t forget as of 10th August this Sale will be every week BREEDING CATTLE – 13 A decent entry on offer today met a very sprinted demand with recent rainfalls refreshing pastures. Dennis Burton, Newark sold Limousins 2nd calvers (50 months) with 4 month old Hereford Bull calves to £1550.00. Pete Jeffery, Ashbourne sold first calved Limousin X Friesian heifers with 5 week old Limousin Bull calves to £1500.00. STORE CATTLE – 65 A small entry of mixed Store cattle met a very sharp trade indeed. Mr J Garton, Huntingdon sold Simmental (26 month) steers to £1210.00, Mr NC Roberts, Norwich sold Blonde steers (18 months) to £1080.00 and 16 month old heifers to £980. David Walker sold 13 month old Limousin bulls to £980, Kevin Johnson, Grantham sold 18 month old Limousin heifers to £1080. Today overall quality would be back on the previous sale, but saying that the best calves were better and at the other end many calves to young leaving nothing in the middle. Best calves today sold to another improved trade heifers from the Sharman family lead the way selling to £455 twice for Charolais Crosses and bulls the same way bred at £410, Messrs Pogson sold Blue bulls to £365, the Jukes family got to £350 and £290 for Limousin Bulls and black and whites topped at £140 but generally £60 to £80. Trade today was faster on the week which is against the general form with deadweight firms continuing to drop prices and auctions elsewhere definitely less.
