2010 Alabama Flora and Fauna Art Show
CALL FOR ENTRIES
Please read this “Call” carefully. There are several changes from last year’s show.
The Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) is pleased to announce a call to artists for its 6th annual
Alabama Flora and Fauna Art Show, to be held April 10 – 16, 2010, at beautiful Historic Lanark in
Millbrook, Alabama. The art exhibited will consist of original paintings, drawings and sculptures
that depict Alabama wildlife and flora. Through our Show, we hope to increase artists’
appreciation for the native plants and animals of Alabama, recognize outstanding artistic talent,
and generate funding to help achieve the natural resource conservation mission of the Alabama
Wildlife Federation.
ELIGIBILITY
 Open to all U.S. resident artists at least 18 years of age.
 Painting, drawing, sculpture, wood carving and mixed media accepted.
 Work must be original, signed by the artist and produced within the past 2 years; entries
may not include works accepted in previous AWF art shows or have placed or won
awards in any other art show or competition. Artwork cannot be copied from
copyrighted materials. Any work that is judged to be plagiaristic in regard to known
persons will not be accepted.
 The Alabama Flora and Fauna Art Show is a juried show. AWF reserves the right to
disallow the exhibition or sale of any item, which in the opinion of AWF, is considered
detrimental to the Show’s image or does not comply with Show rules.
ARTISTS CATEGORIES

o
o
o
Native Wildlife – any species of wild, free-ranging fauna, including fish, which
have historically existed or currently exist in the wild in Alabama without
introduction by man.
Native Plant – any species of plant that has germinated or established itself in
Alabama prior to European settlement; please no invasive species such as ivy,
Chinese tallow tree, privet, chinaberry or mimosa.
Ornamental Plant – any species of plant that is grown in Alabama for its
aesthetic or ornamental value.
This category replaces the “Naturalized Ornamental” category from prior years.
With this category, it is AWF’s desire to pay tribute to Isabel D. Hill, who upon her
death left the Lanark property to AWF. The Lanark gardens and grounds represent
Mrs. Hill’s lifelong labor of love, and we want to honor her work through your art.
We have developed a list of some of the ornamental plants that can be
found at Lanark, and ask that if you enter a work in this category that you
choose from this list. The eligible ornamental plants list can be found
at_____________. Other ornamental plant species that are not native to
Alabama will not be considered.
