Wildcats Senior Bulletin
Third Edition Dec/Jan2011
Things to do in January:
Finalize Your College Applications – If you haven’t done so already, January is a good
time to finalize your college applications. Be mindful of the deadlines at the school(s) to
which you are applying.
If Required, Submit Mid-Year Reports to Your Schools – Don’t forget to ask your
counselor to submit mid-year reports if they are required by your college or university. If
you used the Common Application, mid-year reports are easily accessible for counselors
online. Remember that some schools (for example, UNC Chapel Hill) require you to self
report your semester grades.
Check With Colleges Before Changing Spring Schedules – BEFORE you decide to
change your classes for Spring semester, make sure that you check with your college(s)
to make sure that the change will not affect your acceptance. Remember, the rigor of your
course selection is one of the deciding factors in your college acceptance.
Continue To Visit Colleges – If you haven’t decided yet where you are going to attend,
continue visiting college campuses in order to help you make your decision.
Complete the FAFSA for College Financial Aid – As soon as your parents receive their
W-2’s, or tax forms from the previous year, sit down with them to complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Forms are available online at
www.FAFSA.ed.gov
*After submitting your FAFSA, each school to which you applied will send your family a
Student Aid Report that details your financial aid award.
FAFSA DAY – February 19th 2011
CFNC offers a free workshop statewide in order to help parents and students fill
out the FAFSA form.
A workshop will be held locally at Mitchell Community College in Statesville. In
order to register, please visit http://www.cfnc.org/event/fafsa/fafsa_nc_map.jsp
and click on Iredell County.
