APPLICATION TO REGISTER FOR THE DIPLOMA/CERTIFICATE IN A MODERN LANGUAGE
2012-13
Candidates for the Diploma/Certificate in a Modern Language should:

complete Section A and C of the attached application form and take it to their College Director of
Studies in Modern Languages, who will, after completing Section B, forward it to their own Director
of Studies/Graduate Supervisor to complete Section D before sending it on to the relevant
Department

ensure that they are available for oral examination from Monday 22 April 2013 (Diploma).

ensure that they are available for oral examination from Friday 17 May 2013 (Certificate).

ensure that they are available for written examinations from Wednesday 22 May 2013.
Candidates and Directors of Studies please note the following:

Students already in residence must apply by Monday 2 July 2012.

A provisional allocation of places will be made by Monday 8 October 2012; the availability of
places for subsequent applications will be extremely limited.

Applications from Freshers and first-year graduates will be considered until Friday 12 October
2012, but should be handed in as soon as possible.

All students must ensure that their College enters them for the examination, and on CAMCORS.
Should you withdraw from a course, you must inform your College and the relevant departmental
secretary.

Colleges are expected to arrange language supervisions for any of their students who take the
MML Certificate or Diploma course, and as such should make sure that the student is registered on
CAMCORs. Please bear this in mind when recommending or approving applications.

Any student failing to attend three or more classes without adequate explanation or failing to hand
in two or more written assignments for a class will be deemed to have withdrawn from all
Diploma classes (with no right of appeal).
The Diploma/Certificate is available to all resident fee-paying students or members of staff of the
University. Others wishing to take the Diploma/Certificate will be required to pay the appropriate
composition fee (£9,000 for home and EU students for the academic year 2012/13).
