EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (DIPLOMA) SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Diploma in Children’s Services Knowledge and Experience Essential Sound, practical working knowledge and implementation of the National Quality Framework and the Early Years Learning Framework At least 2 year’s experience as an Early Childhood Educator (Diploma) in an early childhood setting Knowledge of the philosophy of inclusion and associated practice In depth knowledge of legislative requirements In depth understanding of pedagogical thinking and research Knowledge of typical and atypical early childhood development; Must be a team player Must be open to new challenges and have a willingness to learn and share knowledge and experience with others Capacity building approaches that utilise collaboration, reflective and strength based practice Must be able to plan, evaluate, reflect and engage children in an outstanding educational program Desirable Experience working with children with additional needs Interpersonal Skills Essential Ability to form partnerships with children, families, other professionals and the community; Excellent listening and communication skills; Superior written and verbal communication skills; Ability to organise time and set priorities Intermediate level of competence with information technology Prerequisites Satisfactory National Criminal History Check Current Working With Children Check Current Driver’s Licence Current First Aid Certificate including Anaphylaxis and Asthma DEC approved child protection training certificate Eligibility to carry out the role of Certified Supervisor under the Children (Education and Care Services National Law Application) Bill 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations. Ability to lift loads of up to 20kgs. Bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, trunk twisting, kneeling, standing and sitting for durations. Document1
