FDA approved polycation, chitosan in combination with either an antibody or
cytokines regulating the immune response of the body against tumor cells. Innovative
aspects of the invention: chitosan binds proton and returns the acidic tumor pH to the
normal tissue pH; antibody inhibits tumor protection; cytokines activate immune
cascade; positive charge of chitosan attracts macrophages. Licence agreements
sought.

A research institute in the North of Italy patented an invention related to the medical
and pharmacological field, in particular to the treatment of HIV/AIDS infection. In
particular, the patent relates to the discovery that certain peptides can target one of
the HIV-1 proteins, Tat and block its function. The Tat protein acts as an essential
activator of viral gene expression and replication. They are looking for potential
licensees interested in the technology.

A French SME has developed and patented a new method to detect micro-organisms
and in particular moulds resistant to fungicides. This method is based on a
standardised lab method and an image analysis technology. By taking pictures,
different parameters are measured to allow a classification of the type of resistance.
Based on licensing agreement, the SME is looking for a partner which could integrate
this technology to complete its offer in microbiology.

A Saxon SME has developed a fish pass to be integrated in existing weirs (small
overflow dams) in streams and rivers to enable a free movement of fishes and other
organisms up- and downstream. The technology is available as a pilot. The SME is

agreement and plans to launch an European funding project later on.

portable electronic devices. This can be equipped at public spaces, hotels, offices,
etc. Customers who runs out of phone battery and forgot to bring their chargers can
use this wireless charger regardless of their device type. It is fast, convenient, and
easy to charge. The company seeks partnership with a company for a technical
cooperation, commercial agreement with technical assistance and financial
resources.

Listeria monocytogenes has been one of the greatest safety concerns for food
industry in the last decades. A Spanish SME has developed two instruments that
improve the performance of the methods used nowadays for sampling and detection
of the bacterium on surfaces. The SME seeks industrial partners for a technical
cooperation agreement with the purpose of testing and adapting the instruments to
the requirements of different sectors.

A Spanish public research organisation has developed a potential treatment for
Niemann-Pick type A disease, a rare hereditary illness with no cure, in which
sphingomyelin builds up due to a lack of acid sphyngomyelinase. Their researchers
have stimulated neutral sphingomyelinase with vitamin D or dexamethasone,
achieving an in vitro decrease of 34% and 46% in cellular sphingomyelin,
respectively. Companies interested in R+D collaboration and/or patent licensing are
sought for.

SME from North-East Poland producing metal cabinets and working in metalwork
looks for a flow degreasing technology of metal sheets and metal profiles in different
shape. In searched method, the metal profiles should be degreased before
maintenance and the used reagents during the process should be recycled, what
decreases the exploitation costs. The company is interested in commercial
agreement with technical assistance.
