To all candidates
This is an incredibly exciting time for arts and culture in Hampshire, and we want you to join our
team.
Hampshire Cultural Trust is a new and dynamic charitable business with bold ambition. We
champion world-class culture and exist to showcase, connect and empower Hampshire’s creative
economy.
From Saturday 1st November 2014, we took over the operation and funding of Hampshire’s
council-owned museums, galleries and arts centres in order to boost the county’s cultural
offering and make Hampshire a world-class destination for arts and culture.
The county has so much to offer culturally, both to residents and visitors. Our aim is to build
upon the fantastic success of what is already on our doorstep and elevate our portfolio into
something world-class that has the power to transform local people’s lives.
Simultaneously, we will use our independence to create an enterprising business culture that
generates funding through commercial endeavour and philanthropy, so we help local councils
save their funding for other public services, including adult social care and children’s services.
We are now looking to appoint 5 additional high calibre trustees to join our Founding Board and
add the vital capacity and expertise we need to deliver a vibrant future for culture in Hampshire.
Further details about Hampshire Cultural Trust and the Founding Board can be found at our
website:
www.hampshireculturaltrust.org.uk
As a member of our Board of Trustees you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to
people's lives by helping overall governance and development of our strategic goals, monitoring
and being accountable for the charity's performance, and supporting our wonderful team of over
100 staff and 400 volunteers in the delivery of our programmes.
We are looking for people who are able to bring passionate enthusiasm for culture, a collegiate
working style and a strong appreciation of our mission to showcase, connect and empower
Hampshire's culture and creative industries. All trustees need to be able to provide strategic
oversight of the charity's activities and we are especially looking for experience in the areas of:

In addition, we are also keen to develop the diversity of our Board and strengthen our expertise
in the areas of education, communications and marketing, charity law, the arts and the creative
industries.
In return for your commitment we can offer you the opportunity to make a real difference to
people's lives across Hampshire, the chance to work with a like-minded and dedicated group of
trustees, and the satisfaction of playing your part in shaping an innovative model for the future
delivery of cultural services in the UK.
