Mrs. Elizabeth C. Ankeny
From a complication of diseases, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Ankeny, wife of J.L. Ankeny, died at her home on Main street,
Elderton, at 12:30 p.m., Sunday, September 4, aged 70 years, two months and 17 days. She leaves her husband; two
daughters: Mrs. Floyd S. Henderson of Apollo and Mrs. E.G. Fleming of Bradford; three sons: M.R. Ankeny of Shelocta,
R.D., F.B. Ankeny of Pittsburgh and H.S. Ankeny of Cleveland and sixteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted in her late residence at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, and interment will be in Elderton cemetery. Mrs. Ankeny had
been a member of the Plum-creek Brethren church for 48 years.

Funeral rites were conducted on Friday afternoon in the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren, followed by burial in the
Elderton cemetery, for Jacob L. Ankeny, aged 77, a long-time resident of the Elderton community, who died on
Wednesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S.M. Henderson, of Apollo.
A son of Jacob Ankeny, the deceased was born August 31, 1860, in Somerset county, but for the past 65 years had lived
in the vicinity of Elderton, where he was engaged in farming. He was one of the substantial citizens and held membership
with the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren.

and Frank Ankeny, of near Shelocta, and Harry Ankeny, of Cleveland. He was a brother of Mrs. Luella Sachs and
Edmund Ankeny, of Indiana; Mrs. A.C. Shoemaker, of New Bethlehem, and J.C. Ankeny, of Ligonier.
