Hounslow Adult & Community Education Course Information Sheet 2010/11 Course Title: Picture Framing Workshop Venue: Chiswick Details: Saturday 20th November 9.30-12.30 for 1 week What is the course about? This is a practical course for anyone who is interested in learning about basic picture framing. What topics will we cover? It is designed to introduce people to the basics of picture framing including an introduction to suppliers and equipment required for the art of picture framing. Demonstrations on the following skills: sawing 45 degree angles in mouldings, cutting top mounts, making backings and hanging fixings, glass cutting. Frame and mount decoration: learners will work on their own projects throughout th workshop. By the end of this course, you should be able to: Plan and organise the best combination of frame and mount to suit art work. Measure & cut desired moulding and mount. Cut backing board & attach fixing to suit cut glass to fit frame; hand finish & decorate frame and mount. Reflect and evaluate upon the progress of your work What level is the course and do I need any particular skills? This course is for learners at all levels. Beginners and those with more experience are welcome. Do I need an interview or a pre course assessment to join this course? There are no formal entry requirements. There is no interview for this course. How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class? Tutor demonstrations for groups or individual tuition. The emphasis will be placed upon learners developing new skills, working on sample pieces or their own projects. Are there any additional costs? Is there anything I need to bring? The tutor will provide basic practice materials and equipment.
