on progress regards
the shared shuttle bus
service
Dee Martin from TVU said that talks were in progress with GSK to
discuss linking their two shuttle bus operations, as there seemed to be
obvious synergies, potential service improvements and cost savings to
be achieved. More work is required to determine viability - an update
will be provided at the next meeting (29 October).

To update the group
on progress made
towards developing an
area wide transport
strategy for the Golden
Mile.
The first HA Travel Plan Steering Group meeting held on 12th June
2009, and Terms of Reference agreed by all members.
HA request that more organisations attend the Steering Group
meetings in future and have directly contacted several organisations to
assess interest.
Methods of monitoring were discussed and the development of a
survey (for all orgs to participate in) to be undertaken in Oct 09 (for a
4wk duration). The use of Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR)
cameras and automatic traffic counters are also being discussed.
The HA submitted a map of the suggested geographical boundaries of
GM group to enable HA to effectively define and monitor the specified
area. This was discussed by the group and some suggestion for
amends were made.

materials have been

meeting.
Individual tables discussed the content of the marketing materials –
specifically the business specific accessibility maps; suggestions
included:




Location of electric vehicle charging points
Streetcar locations
Entrances to key locations – Syon Park
Time or distance indicators on radial bands
Marketing materials to be produced over the next few months for paid
members of the group.

additions.
Tim and Mark presented the prototype website for group which will
summarise transport links (bus routes and bus stops, cycle routes,
congestion jam cams, real time transport information for tubes and
trains etc). All members were enthusiastic about the ‘travel portal’ and
looked forward to seeing it developed more fully at the next meeting.
TVU expressed a keen interest in having access to realtime info (live
links/plasma screen displays etc). They also suggested the potential to
involve students in the development of such a project.

organisation stakeholders (brief summary of business type/activity etc)

BB provided an extensive overview of the proposals for the new
stadium development, which will have a large impact on transport
provision in the area. Planning permission is likely to be sought in
2010.

C-CF informed the group of the Hounslow Skyride (cycling event) and
suggested the group get involved – 9th Aug 11am – 4pm

update on progress as and when appropriate.
