More work is required to determine viability - an update will be provided at the next meeting (29 October). FutureSkills is the employer facing division of TVU and is Explained Future Skills program – Gov funded initiative aimed at meeting employer needs and how TVU can help deliver. Presentation requested and will be uploaded to ‘GM Website’. 5 Update from the Highways Agency Steering Group meeting Wing Lee (Highways Agency) and representatives from the business steering group To update the group on progress made towards developing an area wide transport strategy for the Golden Mile. The first HA Travel Plan Steering Group meeting held on 12th June 2009, and Terms of Reference agreed by all members. HA request that more organisations attend the Steering Group meetings in future and have directly contacted several organisations to assess interest. Methods of monitoring were discussed and the development of a survey (for all orgs to participate in) to be undertaken in Oct 09 (for a 4wk duration). The use of Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras and automatic traffic counters are also being discussed. The HA submitted a map of the suggested geographical boundaries of GM group to enable HA to effectively define and monitor the specified area. Individual tables discussed the content of the marketing materials – specifically the business specific accessibility maps; suggestions included: Location of electric vehicle charging points Streetcar locations Entrances to key locations – Syon Park Time or distance indicators on radial bands Marketing materials to be produced over the next few months for paid members of the group. 7 Golden Mile Website -preview Mark Frost and Tim Forrester A preview of the new Golden Mile Website. Representatives are invited to review the proposed materials and make recommendations for changes/improvements if necessary and suggest further additions. Tim and Mark presented the prototype website for group which will summarise transport links (bus routes and bus stops, cycle routes, congestion jam cams, real time transport information for tubes and trains etc). All members were enthusiastic about the ‘travel portal’ and looked forward to seeing it developed more fully at the next meeting. TVU expressed a keen interest in having access to realtime info (live links/plasma screen displays etc). They also suggested the potential to involve students in the development of such a project. Interest shown in providing web links to specific information about key organisation stakeholders (brief summary of business type/activity etc) Action: GM Management Group to consider/investigate. Item Item detail no. 8 Membership fee proposal update Lead Outcome/ objective Comment James Stockwell (WLB) To update the group on the membership proposal which will help fund the development of shared marketing resources James made a plea for more organisations to sign up to be fee-paying members. Businesses who took part in the Workplace Cycle Challenge are invited to feedback on their experiences to the group. ACT TravelWise is the UK’s premier network for all organisations working to promote sustainable travel. Rory will present the association and the benefits of being a member for Golden Mile Businesses. Summary from work undertaken at Golden Mile Businesses including issues highlighted by staff. An introduction to the car club concept. Cycle Challenge was considered a great success by all involved and the group were keen to be informed/involved in future years and in any other similar type events/activities. 9 Feedback from the Workplace Cycle challenge and Bike Week 2009 Mark Frost (LBH) and representative businesses. 10 ACT Travelwise – an introduction to this network. AOB Lead Brian Burgess Outcome/ objective Summary of the proposals for developing the Lionel Road Site as a new stadium for Brentford FC. BB provided an extensive overview of the proposals for the new stadium development, which will have a large impact on transport provision in the area. Planning permission is likely to be sought in 2010.
