Main purpose of job
To manage and develop the Print Studios at the Bluecoat as a resource for artists and educators, and to nurture excellence in contemporary printmaking.

External communication: Artists, partner organisations, studio users, technicians, suppliers, higher education establishments, other print facilities nationally and internationally
Budget responsibility: Running costs of the print facility.
Hours of work: 15
Salary: £24,000 pro rata (£10,286 per annum)
To keep informed about current research into the development of non-toxic printmaking practices.
To develop the Bluecoat’s printmaking offer through planning and delivery of programmes for both professional artists and nonspecialists (e.g. beginner’s classes).
To work with the Artistic Director to develop any potential capital projects to grow or improve the printmaking offer.
To develop and advocate the role of printmaking at the Bluecoat within the ecology of printmaking in
Liverpool and the North West region.
To develop the place of printmaking at the Bluecoat within printmaking networks nationally and internationally.
To liaise with the Bluecoat’s Exhibitions Curator and Artistic Director regarding the development, coordination and support of residencies and other opportunities for visiting artists, including editioning prints related to the gallery exhibition programme.
To develop the print studios as a resource for the Bluecoat’s Creative Community of artist tenants.
To ensure the print studios are a safe and non-toxic working environment and be responsible for all
health and safety measures.
To be responsible for ensuring the studio is adequately stocked and maintain control systems for materials.
To be responsible for planning, maintaining and monitoring the printmaking budget, preparing annual budgets, producing regular reports and reforecasts.
To provide copy for publicity material used to promote the print studios and their activities.
To initaite and produce print, maintain a blog and social networking to develop the market for printmaking.
To provide regular KPI (key performance indicators) information relating to the print studio usage, drawing data from the Bluecoa t’s patronbase system.
To liaise with Tickets & Information staff regarding studio hire by artists and the studio diary.
To manage print studio volunteers (currently x 4).
To plan and oversee delivery of regular printmaking workshops and classes, as well as occasional talks, open studios or other public events.
To manage the provision of induction and training for studio users, including the management of freelance deliverers.
To manage the facilitation of sharing sessions, including the management of freelance deliverers.
To manage the provision of learning sessions for teachers, pupils and tenants, including the management of freelance deliverers, as required.
To liaise with participation staff over the planning, scheduling and delivery of learning activities for schools and other user groups, as required.
To research, plan and deliver occasional print exhibitions in the Bluecoat’s Vide space and other public areas.
To research, plan and deliver occasional displays of prints for sale in the Hub or other public areas.
To maintain a display of prints produced in the studios in the corridor display areas.
Contribute to the Arts Team, feeding ideas in to future exhibition and other arts programme planning.
Participate in staff training and development activities as required.
