Course Description: This course is not the typical high school classroom experience.
If anything the class looks more like a business and maybe that is because it is! The
students will participate in all aspects of owning and operating Enumclaw High
School’s student run enterprise called, “Buzzy’s Express and/or The Hive. While
participating in this course the student will experience all aspects of
entrepreneurship, such as accounting, customer service, sales and marketing,
sanitation and inventory, management and training opportunities will be
available.
Cost:
Fee: $20 Sampling and Supply Fee
$10 Food Handler’s Card is required
$18 National DECA Club fee is encouraged- $18

Employee Service and Project Management (35-70 hours)
Hours depend on whether you are part of Buzzy’s Express or The Hive
Classroom Norms created by students:
1. No Cliques! (no huddlers- no personal discussion or discussion that can’t be brought
up in front of all students.
2. Giving up is NOT an option. I can’t do it YET!
3. Stay on Task- you can talk unless it is jeopardizing business.
4. All ideas need to be considered and heard completely.
5. Take direction for what it is! Don’t be a cry baby.
6. Don’t be too controlling. Do your job and assume others are doing their job UNLESS
what they are doing affects our profit.
7. Everyone learns at their own speed, be patient.
8. If you don’t get how to do something, clarify and ask questions until you do!
9. Have a teachable spirit!
10. Be empathetic! Be kind!
11. No Sarcasm!
12. Please and Thank you
13. Allow mangers/staff in charge to make decisions. Don’t challenge superiors in a
group, talk to them when convenient.
14. Don’t be a hypocrite! Practice what you preach!
15. Be aware of personal space.
16. Keep your attitude in check!
17. Don’t complain about anything that you don’t plan to do something about.
18. Don’t make a scene with ANYONE! (especially in front of customers)
19. Sexual Comments will not be tolerated!
20. Keep personal issues to yourself.
21. Do not talk when teacher or another student is talking.
22. Raise your hand if you would like to contribute and WAIT until called on.
23. If you have to use the restroom, do not disturb class, get the pass and go BUT if it
becomes a regular occurrence, you will lose all privileges.
This is a working document. Additions can be made throughout the year.
By not following the above norms, I can expect the following consequence:
1. A documented private conference with a manager or Mrs. Idso/Mrs. Lang

Grades and Special Honors are based on:
1. Timecard- See timecard for specifics. Up to 20 points/day
2. Effort- 95% of the shifts, employee on task. 19/20 days- 380points-A
18/20 340points-B: 17/20-300points-C: 16/20- 260points D: 15/20-220-points-F.
This grade is based on 20day period.
The actual points on will be determined by the # of days in that month.
3. Quality-95% of the shifts the quality is acceptable. 19/20 days- 95-A
18/20 85-B: 17/20-C-75: 16/20- 65 D: 15/20-55F.
This grade is based on 20days or monthly.
4. Specific duties each week that will be graded daily.
P/F up to 40 points for beginning and ending task.(s)
5. Whole class- Spirit Wear is mandatory. P/F 100/50
6. Profit means field trips and bonuses. Field Trips may be participated in unless you have to be
referred to Jack for your behavior or you have accumulated more than 12 absences/semester.
7. Employee of the month- $25 gift card which can be used at Buzzy’s or The Hive- This will be decided
by the manager(s), Mrs. Idso and Mrs. Lang- Both positive and negatives will count toward this
decision. Deductions based on behavior that affects profit- cellphones in bucket
8. Manager of the month- $25 gift card which can be used at Buzzy’s or The Hive- This will be decided
by Mrs. Idso and Mrs. Lang- determined by positive and negative traits. Deductions based on
behavior that affects profit- cellphones in bucket.
In a nutshell: you will be given up to 136 points/day based on attendance and work ethic.
All students will complete a resume and a cover letter to apply to Buzzy’s Express and The Hive for the
following positions: Barista or Concession Stand Clerk and all of the management titles below.
Management Selection:
1. Managers must apply in writing with an attached resume in order to be considered.
2. We will offer some or all of the following positions depending on specific class and interest:
a. General Managers for each shift.
b. Assistant Managers for each shit.
c. Inventory Managers- (Very Detailed Oriented)
d. Pizza Manager
e. Oasis Manager
f. Slush Puppy Manager
g. Purchasing Manager
