SAA Alumni Task Force Application
Thank you for your interest in the Alumni Task Force! We are currently accepting
applications for the 2014 SAA Alumni Task Force.
This special honorary made up of SAA members serves as official university hosts for alumni and
plans all SAA events. Task Force members host alumni at some of the following events on
campus:




Homecoming.
Networking events.
Alumni Council and Governing Board meetings.
Class Reunions.
Eligibility:
 All current SAA general members are eligible to apply to be a member of the Alumni
Task Force.
 Applicants must have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application.
Requirements:
 Attend 75% of all SAA Task Force meetings and general meetings.
 Attend one Cat Café event.
 Serve as chair for one SAATask Force position.
 Attend and volunteer at Homecoming.
 Represent SAA in a professional and dignified manner.
 Fulfill additional duties specified by the SAA Executive Board.
Application Deadline for the Alumni Task Force
Friday, October 31, 2014 at 5pm
- All applications must be submitted in person at the Alumni Office in the Swede Johnson
Building (NW corner of Cherry & Speedway).
- Your applications will be reviewed and you will be notified if you have been chosen to move
onto the interview round via email.

- If your application is selected to move onto the interview round, you will be asked to sign-up
for an interview slot on the dates above. .

1. Please attach a cover letter that expresses your interest in joining the Task Force
and what you can contribute to the club’s mission. Also, please attach a onepage résumé OR a one-page list of extracurricular activities and community
involvement in high school and college.
SAA Mission: SAA is a student club that connects students to Wildcat alumni
and celebrates UA traditions.
2. Please submit a creative project that demonstrates how you are a Wildcat for
Life. Projects must fit in a standard size manila envelope.
Examples include scrapbooks, videos, artwork or writing samples.
3. Please choose one of the following questions. (No more than 500 words.)
1. Write a letter to one of our well-known alums asking them to attend a
Networking event. (ex. Kristen Wiig, Steve Kerr, or Savannah Guthrie)

Student Alumni Ambassadors
Alumni Task Force Positions
Please note that it is required to serve one term on Task Force prior to filling positions 1-7.
#1 President
Official liaison to the university community.
Official representative of the organization.
Presides over general membership, Task Force and Executive Board meetings.
Calls additional meetings as needed.
Prepares meeting agenda and handles all preparation for Task Force and general
membership meetings.
Serves as a student representative on the UAAA Alumni Council.
Main point of contact for all general SAA questions.
Chief liaison between SAA advisors and all SAA members.
Works with the Executive Board to create goals for the academic year.
Ensures that all SAA programs support SAA’s strategic goals.
Must attend four SAA marketing events during the recruitment period.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor.
#2 Executive Vice President
Assumes the duties of President when the President is absent.
Manages the annual Task Force member obligation contracts.
Updates the contract as needed.
Ensures that all Task Force members fill out and sign a contract each academic year.
Submit copies of all contracts to the SAA staff advisors each year.
Maintain an archive of all obligation contracts.
Presides over Task Force application and interview process.
Main point of contact for all Task Force application process questions.
Coordinates SAA’s presence at Evening of Excellence.
Oversees the Executive Board elections process and committee.
Heads the SAA Awards committee and oversees all aspects of the SAA awards.
Heads up the design, ordering and distribution of all SAA t-shirts.
Prepares meeting agenda and handles all preparation for Executive Board meetings.
Serves as the keeper of the SAA Bylaws.
Handles all Bylaw updates.
Reviews the Bylaws with the Executive Board each year.
Reviews attendance reports from secretary and contacts delinquent members.
Must attend four SAA marketing events during the recruitment period.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor.
Oversees #14, ASUA/Campus Exposure Chair, a #24&25, Rivalry Run Chairs
#3 Secretary
Maintain an accurate record of all business conducted and submits the record to the
Executive Board and Advisory Board.
Serves as the club’s main representative to ASUA.
Keeps an accurate record of attendance and submits all attendance records to the
Executive Vice President.
Works with the President to plan and execute meeting activities.
Creates and maintains the SAA Handbook.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor
Responsible for upkeep of ‘A’ Book
Oversees Ghost of the UA Tour Chair
#4 Treasurer
Maintains an accurate record of club funds.
Works with the Advisory Board to determine a need for fundraising.
Provides advice in all financial matters.
Manages all money at events or designates a member who will be responsible for
funds in their place.
Meets regularly with the UA Alumni Association Chief Financial Officer.
Handles the ordering and distribution of SAA nametags and polos.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor.
Supervises any fundraising events, specifically the Rivalry Run
Responsible for planning each General Meeting: Recruits Task Force members to
volunteer to work at each meeting. Creates the ice breaker and selects TF members to
host it. Handles the sign-in process of each meeting.
Responsible for the scholarship selections process: design the application and
assemble the review committee to award Wildcat for Life, Task Force Member of the
year, and General member of the year awards at the Evening of Excellence in the
spring . Designs an application for merit scholarships, which will be awarded to SAA
members at the fall Scholarship Celebration
#5 Vice President of Alumni Relations
Plans all events and mobilizes members to participate in networking events
throughout the year. These events include but are not limited to:

Creates committees to oversee individual events.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor.
Oversees Alumni Networking Chair, Homecoming Chair, Homecoming Parade Float
Chair, Lighting of A Mountain Chair, Spring Networking Chair, and Cat Café Chair.
#6 Vice President Communications
Maintains the SAA Facebook and Website
Works with the staff advisors on all marketing programs.
Creates content for monthly General SAA member e-blasts and semi-weekly Task
Force e-blasts.
Creates and maintains and officer binder to pass on to their successor.
#7 Vice President of Membership
Recruits SAA general members.
Responsible for marketing SAA on campus and recruiting members from April –
October of each year.
Plans and coordinates all SAA recruiting events including:
Orientation
Phoenix Summer Send off
Wildcat Welcome events
Creates the Wildcat Pack.
Heads the Membership Committee.
Creates the Beat T-shirt design each year with the Membership Committee.
Plans and coordinates all Beat T-shirt days.
Creates and implements the New Member Welcome Plan.
Cultivates membership throughout the year.
Promotes renewing membership to all current SAA members.
Creates and maintains an officer binder to pass on to their successor.
Oversees Tailgate Chair, Passport Chair, and Social Chair
I. Task Force Duties and Requirements
#8 Homecoming Chair
Coordinates all SAA Homecoming events and volunteer opportunities. Serves as the
main contact for members, volunteers, and Chairs for Homecoming events.
Reports to VP Alumni Relations
#9, #10 Homecoming Parade Float Chairs
Two chairs will be responsible for leading the parade float committee in the design
and construction of the Homecoming parade float.
Reports to VP Alumni Relations
#11 Lighting of “A” Mountain Chair
Responsible for the planning and execution of the annual Lighting of “A” Mountain
event to kickoff Homecoming. Works with staff advisors to book the Main Gate
Garage, books entertainment, books decorations, creates RSVP page, creates
Facebook events, markets the event to student and alumni, books the Bank, cheer and
Wilbur and Wilma, recruits volunteers, and manages all logistics the day of the event.
Reports to VP Alumni Relations
#12 Passport Chair
Revises the annual Passport and attendance stickers each year. Is in charge of
collecting sign-in sheets, tracking attendance, updating passports, and handing out
prizes to members.
Reports to Secretary
#13 Cat Café Chair
Responsible for planning and implementation of the annual Cal Café event including
marketing the event to alumni and students, determining locations, determining
number of events, organizing transportation, creation on nametags and event
materials, and managing all additional logistics for the events.
Reports to VP Alumni Relations
#14 Ghosts of the UA Tour Chair
Oversees the Ghosts of the UA Tour program. Selects and trains 10 tour guides each
semester that host the tour on an ongoing basis. Sets up tours for Homecoming,
Reunions, Chapter Leadership Conference, Governing Board meetings, Student
special events, and special requests. This program is new, so the Chair is responsible
for marketing this program on campus and growing our number of tours per year.

#15 Social Chair
Responsible for planning an average of 1-2 social events or opportunity per month.
Options can include tailgates, philanthropy events, and ASUA events. The social
chair is responsible for campus exposure and SAA participation in campus and
community events.

#16 & #17 Alumni Networking Events Chair
Assists the VP Alumni Relations with all aspects of SAA alumni networking events
including set-up, clean-up, creation of nametags and event materials, decorations,
catering, marketing, recruitment of volunteers, and managing volunteers on the day of
the event.

#18 & #19 Rivalry Run Chairs
Rivalry Run is a Beat ASU themed fundraising run to benefit SAA’s scholarship fund
and general funds. Chairs are responsible for launching the first annual Rivalry Run.
Work with the Executive Board to finalize the layout of the event. Work with Staff
Advisors to book the Mall, create decorations, market to campus and alumni,
marketing to the local community and press, manage all logistics of the event,
execute the event, recruit volunteers, and manage the volunteers.

#20 M&M Chair
Responsible for the Mentors and Mentees program, including the initial matching and
year-round accountability for mentors
