Bus tour through London We went to London from the 10th of May to the 18th of May for a language trip. On the 12th we did a sightseeing tour by bus. There were three different bus routes. First, we took the red route. It started at Green Park. We saw the first Hard Rock Café and learned that that the first one was not in the U.S.A., as we had believed. The bus went on passing Hyde Park and Marble Arch which is close to Speaker's corner where everyone is allowed to say whatever he wants (as long as he doesn't criticize the Queen) if he stands on a box. Marble Arch is also the end of Oxford Street which is a famous shopping street. In a street called White Hall we saw the Royal Horse Guards and the house in Downing Street in which Tony Blair lives. Behind Westminster Abbey we changed to the blue bus tour. On this bus we crossed Westminster Bridge and had a beautiful view of the London Eye and Big Ben. Between the Royal National Theatre and the Hayward Gallery we crossed Waterloo Bridge and saw the Royal Courts of Justice. We also saw St. Paul’s Cathedral, which is one of the biggest cathedrals in Great Britain. At Monument we crossed London Bridge and a few minutes later Tower Bridge, which is the most beautiful bridge I have ever seen. From the Bridge we saw a big warship called HMS Belfast, which is now a museum. The bus went around the Tower of London. We went the whole way back and got off at the Royal National Theatre. The tickets of the bus tour included a free River Thames cruise. We went to the pier on foot. We walked along the River Thames for about 20 minutes until we arrived at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, where we got on the ship. There it was very hot, but we had a beautiful view of the London Eye again. At Westminster Pier we went off the boat and had some time to walk through London on our own. The bus tour was very interesting and not as strenuously as walking. The boat cruise was also very good, but a bit too short.I liked the whole day very much and I think it was worth the price of £ 18. (Roman Schuster)
