Spelling Journal Introduction
This is your spelling journal to help you to improve
your spelling. You will be able to add spelling facts
and tricks to it as you learn them.
It is for use in every subject not just during
Literacy. Good spelling is important because it
makes your work easier to read and understand.
In the journal there are different sections for you to
put your work.
One has tricky words which have to be learned, and
a look, say, cover, write, check sheet for you to use
to practice them.
The next has a mini dictionary where you can try
out new words and find some of the common
words.
There is a list of mnemonics which you can use to
remember those longer tricky words such as:
because.
The fourth section is for you to put your word
investigations so that you can go back to them if
stuck on a word.

Next, a section for you to put those words you need
to learn to spell to improve your writing. Also a
target getting card to record what you have learned
to do.
Then a section for topic words which will help you
in other subjects.
Finally, a fun section of games and challenges, for
when you have time, or would like to exercise your
thinking skills.
