MCC Electronics Technology Graduate Success Story Neil Gray received his Associate in Electronic Technology in winter 2006 and currently employed with a company in Manassas, VA called Micron Technology, Inc. Micron is one of the world's leading providers of advanced semiconductor solutions. Micron’s DRAM and Flash components are used in todays most advanced computing, networking, and communications products, including computers, workstations, servers, cell phones, wireless devices, digital cameras, and gaming systems. Micron also provides CMOS image sensor solutions to the handset camera, digital still camera, and PC video camera markets. Neil, being a veteran, used an online job placement company called Orion International and was hired directly into Micron as a Technician. Neil was asked what classes he felt prepared him the most for his position and he stated that all the second year electronics classes including Microprocessors 1 & 2, Digital Electronics, Hydraulics and Pneumatics were very helpful in the industry. He also went on to say that he had a Micron class on basic pneumatics and felt that he could have taught the class himself and believes that he is ahead of the game in that category. He said that the instructors in Electronics Technology were great and the fact that the classes were small made it great for one-on-one assistance. Neil stated that he learns best with hands-on and that all his electronic classes were hands-on. Upon Neil’s hire in, Mike Shaw, Associate Engineer Lead of Micron Technology, Inc. states, “Neil went through our new training program called, “Tech/Engineer Boot Camp,” which is a condensed, fast-paced, quick-start training program. Neil is a very fast learner and is working on shift repairing and troubleshooting etch equipment. He has the skills that make him a good fit for us. He is a hard worker, positive, and eager to continuously learn.”
