, wish to be considered for selection as a Micron Scholar for the Class of 2005. Permission is
hereby given to officials of Virginia Tech to release transcripts of my academic record and other
requested information for consideration as a Micron Scholar. I understand that this application will be
available only to the Micron Scholars Selection Committee and other qualified persons in the Chemical
Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering Departments
with “need to know” for the selection process. I further understand that if I am selected as a Micron
Scholar, my application will be forwarded to the Micron Technology Foundation for internal use within
the Foundation and the parent corporation, Micron Technology, Inc.
I affirm that I plan to pursue a career in microelectronics, photonics, or nanotechnology and will register
for the Minor in Microelectronics Engineering.

The selection of scholarship recipients will be influenced by the completeness, neatness, and legibility of
replies. This form and the essay should be completed using Microsoft Word. All information must be
completed within the indicated margins. The font should be Times New Roman 11 point. If you have
more activities, work experience, and/or awards than the space allows, list only those that you consider
most significant. Inserts and additional pages will not be accepted.
