Hall 5 – Aisle H – Stand 125 Marchesini Group at Emballage 2006 The star of the stand will undoubtedly be the worldwide debut of the new Marchesini Group cosmetics jar filling and packaging line A new jar filling and packaging line featuring revolutionary technology is now ready for the worldwide cosmetics packaging market. This is the major new breakthrough that the Marchesini Group, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of automatic machines and entire lines for packaging pharmaceutics and cosmetics products, will be presenting for the first time ever at the Emballage fair to be on stage in Paris from November 20 to 24, 2006. The line includes two major innovations that will be celebrating their worldwide debut, the new MAV50 vertical carton packer and the new MCV850 vertical case packer, without forgetting the MV545 jar filling and capping machine and the Neri SL200DL2T labeller. THE NEW VERTICAL CARTON PACKER MAV50 Due to a growing number of market requests and deeply certain of its great experience of horizontal carton packer manufacture, the Marchesini Group has now tuned up an innovative vertical cartoner, ideal for packaging jars and bottles. The new MAV50 is a vertical, intermittent cartoner used for packaging pharmaceutics and cosmetics jars and bottles. Its design and construction is distinguished by advanced ergonomics that facilitate the actions of operators employed to oversee packaging and safeguard cartons. The cartons are transported by an innovative, patented solution. On one hand, this transports the cartons, and on the other it avoid the contact with the static parts of the machine that may cause abrasions or wear on the outside of the carton. The cartons are opened using an innovative, patented mechanism that after picking up the carton from horizontal magazine, turns it up so that it can be filled from the top (this means the longitudinal folds are positioned vertically). The jars are picked up and placed in the carton by a “pick & place” system built into the structure of the machine. The jars can be transported both in pucks or without these one, depending on the needs of the customer. The cardboard and instruction leaflet feed magazines are horizontal. The “pick & place” system picks them up, folds them and packs them into cartons. The great flexibility of the machine can be seen from the various ways in which an instruction leaflet can be positioned: i.e. either inserted at the bottom of the carton (folded in a U shape round the product) or placed on top of the jar. THE NEW MARCHESINI MCV 850 VERTICAL CASEPACKER Another important component of the new Marchesini Group jar filling line celebrating its worldwide debut is the new MCV850 vertical casepacker. What are the machine’s winning features? Its balcony structure, its totally computerised operation, the positive carton handling and its remarkable versatility: the use of gripper or suction cup depending the product being packaged. The first Marchesini vertical case packer uses robot technology, i.e. a robotized pick up head, to guarantee high precision pick up operations. The use of brushless motors ( over 8 ) also guarantees increased versatility and flexibility in a machine designed to reach speeds of up to 15 cases a minute. The case feed unit is situated in an extremely ergonomic position and has a generous carrying capacity that means it has remarkable autonomy. Size changes are quick and do not require any tools. The various sizes to be processed are saved in the PC and when they are recalled by the operator, the case conveyor belt automatically shifts to the correct position. The numerous optional features available include the option of inserting a separator between product layers and the chance to close the end flaps with glue instead of the standard adhesive tape. THE MV 545 JAR FILLER AND CAPPING MACHINE AND THE SL200DL2T LABELLER Upstream there are two machines marked out of innovative filling, capping and labelling solutions. First is the MV545 jar filling and capping machine. This machine has been designed to comply with the highest technological standards and ensure ultimate productivity and quality. The operating processes are monitored by a personal computer with a colour touch-screen display. The machine makes use of an automatic pick up, positioning and cap tightening system with electronic torque control that can be adjusted and set from the control panel. The dosing units are fitted with tri-clover connectors (hopper, pumps, valves and nozzles) that means they can be transferred completely (assembled in a single block) from the work zone to the washing and sterilizing zone on the unit’s special cart. Dosing can be adjusted either manually using the micrometric screw fitted with a digital indicator, or automatically from the display using the stepping motor. And finally, a few specifications: size range: diameter 35-85 mm and height 35-80 mm; cap size range: diameter 35-85 and height 10-35; mechanical speed: 75 beats/min. The new jar packaging line also includes a Neri SL200CTF labeller. The technological solutions on this machine means it is fully equipped to meet the wide range of needs posed by the constant developments in a market such as the cosmetics packaging and labelling sector. So what are the main features of the machine? The SL200CTF labeller has two labelling stations, one for the top of the lid and one for the bottom of the jar. The labels are applied using “pick and place” devices with suction mechanisms on the foldaway peeling plate and in the positioning phase, i.e., on the successive fixed steps of the transport screw feeder. The jars are transported the right way up by means of a worm screw, whereas the label presence check stations and incorrect product reject stations are located on a parallel belt to guarantee top quality labelling precision and avoid any damage to the jars.
