It is a new literacy kit that includes strategies and resources for reaching all learners in the classroom. 23. Talking Blocks for Taking Tests – Sharlene Williams – J.D. This system is used with children who have difficulty identifying when they are stressed, and can be used in conjunction with relaxation training to monitor the physical signs of stress reduction. 33. Play On Words: Building vocabulary with Every Turn – Denise Johnson – Lakeview Elementary - ($837.37 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase games and materials to help students practice emerging vocabulary and use mastered word knowledge in more complex ways. The games will allow interactive practice of critical word knowledge skills in a fund environment that allows the use of many modes of learning. 41. A+ Library – Teresa Lansford – Lincoln Elementary - ($425.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase professional materials for teachers to enhance curriculum through the arts and multiple intelligences while preparing students for the Common Core Standards. 42. Listening Helps Readers Grow – Megan Moser – Lincoln Elementary - ($979.05 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a listening center and quality, high interest nonfiction read-along books. 43. Getting It Together for Success! – Kathy Bayliss – Lincoln Elementary ($940.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase equipment for our sensory area to meet the needs of all students. 44. Learning Activities for Multiple Learning Styles – Roxanne Patterson – Longfellow Middle School - ($984.24 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase hands-on materials such as puzzles and books to address multiple learning styles in a single classroom. 45. Power Up with LEGOS! – Erin Hassen – Madison Elementary - ($974.22 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase WeDo Robotics LEGO kits for students to use in the GT classroom and in a robotics club. 46. Hard Boiled Readers – Dessie Nicholson and Gay Smith – Madison Elementary - ($917.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase access for three year to an online based reading program called Reading Eggs, and support materials to further enhance instruction in the classroom. 47. Fine Motor Fun – Heather Pogue – Monroe Elementary - ($247.80 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase materials to help children develop fine motor skills, grasping ad pinching, so their fine motor skills do not interfere with their success as writers. 48. Digital Microscopes for the Intelligent Classrooms – Phase 2 – Norma Ting – Monroe Elementary - ($587.86 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 7 Carson Zorb Digital Microscopes and 7 sets of prepared slides for the microscopes. The digital microscope has an integrated camera that displays the magnified image on the computer screen and the interactive whiteboard. 49. Angrrrr Boxes – Sarah Kirk – Monroe Elementary - ($150.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase supplies to create 15 Angrrrr Boxes. These boxes are used to take the “grrrr” out of Anger by allowing students to use the items in the box to let out anger in a safe, non-disruptive manner. 50. Creating Rich Retellings – Heather Pogue – Monroe Elementary - ($306.50 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a flannel board and storytelling kits to help children have success retelling stories. 51. Robotics Club For Everyone! – Ann Melton – Monroe Elementary - ($881.81 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase Lego Mindstorms NXT robotics toolkits for the expansion of a robotics club. 52. Fun and Games for Language Acquisition – Dana Loy – Norman High School ($159.98 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase Spanish language games which will promote the idea and practice of Spanish for fun and encourage the learning and retention of the language. 53. Publishing with STYLE – Joye Oakley – Norman High School - ($226.25 fully funded) Funds from this grant will be used to purchase 10 Associated Press Stylebooks for use in newspaper and journalism classrooms. 54. Hands on Common Core – Ashley Tomson – Norman High School - ($911.10 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 1 box of 150 dry-erase markers, 4 color spinner sets, 4 number spinner sets, 4 buckets of dice, 5 teacher workbooks for probability, statistics, and data analysis, a classroom set of 32 stopwatches, 3 classroom geometry construction kits, 16 metersticks, 2 hands-on visual trigonometric proofs, 1 trigonometry joke workbook, 1 hands-on geometry construction workbook, and 3 advanced algebra workbooks. 55. Blocks Begin Success – Kelsey Condley – Norman High School - ($803.85 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase starting blocks for the track and field program. 57. 6 ft wide ipad for the whole class – David Askey – Norman High School ($125.00 fully funded) This money will be used to purchase an Apple TV, an adapter and a stylus so that student can work through problems, labs, and go over exams as a class. 58. The Better To hear You With, My Dear – Joye Oakley – Norman High School ($204.85 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase three audio digital recorders for student journalists to use as they interview sources for stories and for English I students who are conducting active research. 59. A Bonding Experience – Kate Baugher – Norman North High School - ($997.50 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase molecular model kits to enhance the understanding of 3-D molecular bonding by chemistry students. 60. Back to Basic – Ann Hall – Norman North High School - ($686.50 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase the Deluxe Multifunction Sorting Box set and the Numbers Template set. These sets increase students’ ability to grasp basic math concerts through manipulatives and hands-on activities. 61. Time Traveling Monks – Rick Sondag and Dan Nolan – Norman North High School - ($302.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase monk robes and Gregorian Chant music. 62. Rediscovering Rome and not by candlelight – Dan Nolan – Norman North High School - ($325.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase un-cleaned Roman coins that the students will be able to clean and identify. What can make ancient world more exciting than to clean a 1700 year-old coin and be the first one in centuries to see the face of Romulus and Remus? It is a chance to make ancient history alive and relevant. 63. Endless Worksheet Problems – Martha Maeder – Norman North High School ($996.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase software and the license to great math worksheets in 5 different courses. 64. Calculating for Success in Algebra I and Geometry – Stacey Weinand – Norman North High School - ($280.58 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a replacement classroom set of 20 calculators that will be used during the school year as well as on the End of Instruction (EOI) tests in Algebra I and Geometry. 65. Pictures Worth a Thousand Stars – Eileen Grzybowski – Norman North High School - ($1,000.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase two Orion Star Blast 6” reflector telescopes and adaptors for cameras (especially digital cameras). These items will allow students in astronomy to be introduced to the art of astrophotography. 66. Rhythmic and Melodic Dictation with Dry-Erase Boards – Katie Jones – Reagan Elementary - ($99.96 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 4 sets (of 10 each) of doublesided, 12” by 16” dry erase boards. These white boards feature two lines music staves on one side and are blank on the other side. 67. Going Global – Toni Gay – Reagan Elementary - ($527.16 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase books, instruments, maps and replicas to help children learn about different cultures. 68. Making Reading Meaningful – Janet Usry – Reagan Elementary - ($646.42 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase Word Study Lessons, Phonics Lessons with CD Rom. 69. The scripts are levels and will be used in guided reading groups to improve fluency and comprehension. 71. Each software program contains 5 classroom licenses for use in all third grade classrooms. 73. Pebblego to the Common Core – Glen Stanley – Roosevelt Elementary ($895.00 fully funded) The funds for this grant will be used to purchase an online database geared towards younger grades that will aid students when searching for information. 74. Audio Books to Improve Reading and Academic Performance – Elizabeth Guy – Special Services - ($794.52 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase two classroom sets of appropriate leveled fiction story books, plus one CD for each set. 75. I Do Solemnly Swear – It’s an Inauguration Celebration! – Johnnie Keel – Truman Elementary - ($727.76 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase the “sis, boom, bah” (also known as the decorations and party supplies) for a school wide Inauguration Celebration. This will be the culminating activity for a study of the election process and the pathway to the presidency, making it real and relevant to students and giving them an understanding of the qualifications and role of the U.S. President and their part to be good citizens. 76. Starfall for All 2012-2013 – Elizabeth Douma – Truman Primary School ($270.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a one year subscription to More.Starfall.com four our school. 77. A Clean Slate – Lauren Lindsey, Kelsey Stein, Allison Sherman, Elizabeth Schiller, Jan Carson, Carol Richman, and Jill Swindle – Truman Primary School - ($300.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase student dry erase boards or slates. 78. M is For Magnatabs – Elizabeth Douma – Truman Primary School - ($257.51 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 8 Magnatabs, beaded writing tablets with a magnetic stylus, to support literacy development in Pre-K classrooms. 79. Just Right Books – Mekele DeNegri and Laura Gallagher – Truman Primary School - ($335.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase leveled readers for students to use as independent reading practice as well as book pouches for books to be carried to and from school. 80. Visual Timers for Teaching Transition – Ann Hochman – Truman Primary School - ($300.00 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase visual timers that will help autistic children with transitions. 81. Getting Along Together – ShaLyn Cottingham – Truman Primary School ($87.50 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase literature about learning to get along with others. Each book has ideas and activities that connect learning from the literature to other areas. This set of eight books would be available for all students in the school to use. Teachers will chick them out with a sign out sheet. 82. It will be used in the Reading Resource Classroom. 83. heARTwork: Kids and Kanvas – Amber Bui – Washington Elementary ($690.62 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase aprons, bland canvas pieces, paper, paints, and paintbrushes. It will also be used to purchase books providing painting ideas and techniques to use with the children. 84. iPads Larger than Life! – Stacie Terhark – Whittier Middle School - ($89.96 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a VGA adapter for iPad as well as a set of 5 stylus’ for use with the iPad. 85. I Can Do It By Myself – Stacie Terhark – Whittier Middle School - ($116.14 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a vacuum cleaner, a toaster, and a toaster/convection oven for use by special education students with autism. 86. The Choice Is Yours – Terri Welborn – Whittier Middle School - ($466.13 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase a class set of the book entitled, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Sean Covey and a class set of complimenting student workbooks. 87. Student Created Movies to Motivate and Educate! – Jodie Cook – Wilson Elementary School - ($487.07 fully funded) The funds from this grant will be used to purchase 5 Vivitar Camcorder Kits with Carrying Cases, 4GB Memory Cards, and Mini Tripods for elementary students to use to make educational movies in the classroom.
