Halloween Horsey Fun Day ~ This horse show is a fund raiser for a little girl that is very ill. ~ October 24 * 10 am - 4 pm * Food & Prizes Events will include: Costume classes for both kids and adults, Walk-trot and cantering divisions of all classes, Simple, safe and easy games on horseback, Bake sale Yard sale Tack sale Prizes, food, and more! A day fee of $30 includes lunch and your entries in any classes you which to participate in all day long! Vista Farms Halloween Fun-Draiser Class List & Show Schedule Saturday, October 24, 10 am to 4 pm. $30 per person All the classes you want, and lunch! (Any riders under 18 must wear a helmet.) Activities may be held in the indoor and/or outdoor arenas, based on rain/snow. Cold doesn’t count as weather, unless it’s in a blizzard. Dress warmly! Yard sale, bake sale, and tack sale going on all day! Bring money to buy, or items to donate! Most classes will have a walk, trot and canter division for beginners to advanced riders. Cantering riders may not compete in trot and walk divisions; trotting riders may not compete in walking divisions….and so on. Costume Parade: all together! o Riders and horses ride (or are lead) in the arena and are ‘judged’. Ribbon Race: walk, trot and canter divisions. o Teams of 2 Riders on horses o Riders hold a crepe paper ribbon between them and try to hang onto the ribbon while the judge calls out commands. o Last team still holding their ribbon (in tact) wins. Musical Cones o Riders on horses play musical chairs. Walking and trotting division. Leading division, mounted walking and trotting division. Once you are ‘out’, leave the arena. When it comes down to the last two cones/horses, those are out two winners. Ground pole pattern race: Timed pattern is ridden over ground poles. Leading, Walk, Trot and Canter division. If a trotting rider breaks into a canter, they are out! Boot race: Boots thrown in a pile at one end of the arena, you ride down, find your boots, put them on, and lead back. Walk, trot and canter divisions. Obstacle Course will run while other classes are going on. In-Hand obstacle course and riding course. Judged on approach and handling of the obstacles. o Obstacles will include but are not limited to: Walking over bridge Backing up Getting something out of mailbox Going over poles Older = basketball in hoop (hoop on barrel) Younger = ring around cone (cone on barrel) Lunch Break @ approximately Noon – 1pm After lunch, we will have a pie eating contest outside. $1.00 per entry! Egg Stomp. Leading division and riding division. Riders/handlers try to have their horse step on an egg (either accidentally or on purpose) and race back to the start. Egg and Spoon – walk, trot and canter divisions. o Riders on their horses hold an egg in a spoon while the judge calls out commands like trot, canter, reverse, etc. o Rider cannot touch the bowl of the spoon or egg. o Last rider still holding their egg wins. Rescue Me: Advanced riders only. o Teams divided by age again - 14 & over – 13 & under o Can use the fence or mounting block or just jump on. o Riders cannot use a horse that may be unsafe to do this on. (Judges call.) o 1st rider is on horse at one end of arena. 2 nd rider is at opposite end of arena. o 1st rider and horse (saddled or bareback) run down to the 2nd rider. o 2nd rider gets on horse, with or without aids. o Both riders, on the horse, run back to start/finish line. o Best time wins. Barrels will run the same time as Pole Bending: walk, trot and cantering divisions. o Traditional patterns. o Best time wins. o Prizes awarded in each division. Want to help?
