Game Class Show – December 19, 2009

Game Description & Rules

* Egg & Spoon – Riders will carry an egg, balanced on a spoon in one hand with the reins in the other hand. Riders will follow announcer’s direction around the arena through tasks such as stop, walk, trot, reverse direction, and circle. Riders are eliminated for dropping their eggs, catching a falling egg and replacing it, or not following the announcers’/judges instructions. The lucky winner is the last rider with the egg still on the spoon at the end.

* Mint Julep – Riders will carry a full cup of water in one hand with the reins in the other hand. Riders will follow announcer’s direction around the arena through tasks such as stop, walk, trot, reverse direction, and circle. The rider with the most water left at the end is the winner.

* Red Light / Green Light – Riders will walk or trot their horses from the start line towards the finish line. When the announcer turns and states “redlight!” all riders must stop moving. Any horse that continues to move, must go back one horse length. Horses must stand quiet under “redlight” command. First over the finish line wins.

* Command - Similar to “Simon Says”. Riders must wait for the announcer’s to say “NOW” before performing the previous command. Riders who do not perform the task with the “NOW” command, or do perform prior to the “NOW” command, will be disqualified. The last horse and rider participating are the winners. This class is available in both w/t & open divisions.

* Sit-A-Buck – This is a bareback game. Riders will hold a piece of paper under their thigh while following tasks given by the announcer. The last person with a slip is the winner. This class is available in both w/t & open divisions.

* Pole Bending – Riders will weave through a line of poles, circle an obstacle at the end and weave back through the poles to the starting point. Fastest time wins, knocking down a pole adds 5 seconds to rider’s final time. Riders going off course result in disqualification

* Sack Hop – Riders will have to race into the arena on their horse, dismount and pass their horse to a handler at the other end, the hop back to the starting line in a sack. Fastest time wins.

* Musical Horses – Played the same concept as musical chairs

* Tack Race – Riders will lead their horse un-tacked into the ring, tack up properly (girths must be tightened properly or riders will be disqualified), mount their horse from the ground, and then race to the finish line. Fastest time wins.

* Barrel Racing - Horse and rider will attempt to complete a pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time

* Izzy Dizzy – Riders race into the arena, dismount and pass their horse to a handler at the other end, place their forehead on a stick, spin around 10 times, and race back to the start. Fastest time wins.

* Gambler’s Choice – a course of varying height jumps will be set up. Riders will be given 45 seconds to jump as many jumps as they choose too. The higher the jump, the higher the points - a knocked down rail does not count and renders that jump unavailable for the remainder of the run. Rider with the most points wins.

* Knock Down & Out – Riders take turns jumping a single jump which is set at 18”. After each round, the jump is raised 3”. When a rider knocks down the pole, they are disqualified. The last rider to clear the highest jump is the winner.

* Crossrail Grandprix

– Riders will have to run a course twice. The first time on their horse, the second time without. The course will consist of approx 6 jumps of varying height. This is a timed event – riders must take their horse through the course, un-mount and hand the horse over to a handler at the starting point, then re-run the course and jump the course themselves. Knocked over poles either mounted or on foot will result in a 5 second time fault, and going off course in either mounted or on foot will result in disqualification. Fastest time wins..

.

* Spectator – Open to anyone who has not competed in any other classes (with the exception of jackpot costume class). Will be ridden at walk / trot.
