Sponsored by Community Agriculture Alliance 2013 Cayuse Classic Sunday September 29 ROUTT COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS Rules for Hunter Jumper English and Western Horse Show ENGLISH PLEASURE DIVISION & WESTERN PLEASURE DIVISION: To be judged on the obedience and manageability of the horses or ponies entered. Adult Pleasure Division: English and Western riders will work in the arena at the same time but will be awarded as two separate classes. Junior Pleasure Division: English and Western riders will work in the arena at the same time but will be awarded as two separate classes. If there are more than 15 participants total, we will separate the riders and run two classes. English: 1E Pleasure walk, trot, and canter or walk, jog, lope both ways of the arena 2E Bridle Path Hack walk, trot, canter, or walk, jog, lope both ways of the arena; asked to hand gallop, halt and back up, with the possibility of being asked to dismount and mount. 3E Pleasure Hack walk, trot, canter both ways of the arena; after the riders have performed all flat work, there will be 2 jumps no higher than cross rails of 18” to be executed Western: 1W Pleasure walk, trot, and canter or walk, jog, lope both ways of the arena 2W Bridle Path Hack walk, trot, canter, or walk, jog, lope both ways of the arena; asked to hand gallop, halt and back up, with the possibility of being asked to dismount and mount. 3W Pleasure Hack walk, jog, lope, asked to work two trail obstacles example: bridge, mailbox, rails THIS DIVISION WILL BE AWARDED TO JUNIOR RIDERS AND ADULT RIDERS AS THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL CLASSES AND DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS HUNTER DIVISION: Height 18” to 24” (probably crossrails) To be judged on the performance of the horse and form while executing the fences in the jumping classes and movement under saddle. The over fences classes are shown over two different courses of fences. Class 2 will have one course of fences and class 3 will have a different course. 4. Hunter Under Saddle – walk, trot, canter both ways of the arena 5. Hunter Over Fences – shown over a course of 8 to 10 fences 6. Hunter Over Fences – shown over a course of 8 to 10 fences THIS DIVISION WILL BE AWARDED TO JUNIOR RIDERS AND ADULT RIDERS AS THEIR OWN INDIVIDUAL CLASSES AND DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIPS 7. LEADLINE HIGH HUNTER DIVISION: Height 2’6” to 2’9” To be judged on the performance of the horse and form while executing the fences in the jumping classes and movement under saddle. The over fences classes are shown over two different courses of fences. Class 13 will have one course of fences and class 14 will have a different course. 8. High Hunter Under Saddle walk, trot, canter both ways of the arena 9. Hunter Over Fences – shown over a course of 8 to 10 fences 10. Hunter Over Fences – shown over a course of 8 to 10 fences THIS DIVISION IS AN OPEN DIVISION TO BE AWARDED ONE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP JUMPER DIVISION: Height 2’3” to 2’6” 11. Power & Speed – a course of 8 jumps to be jumped with no faults then jumps 9 to 13 will be timed to determine placings. 12. Gambler’s Choice – Riders have 45 sec to jump obstacles that vary in points from 10 to100 according to difficulty. Riders will be credited for obstacles jumped with no faults. Obstacles may be jumped in any order and as much as twice. Start/finish line may be crossed in either direction. 13. Team Jumpers – Riders will pick a name out of a hat to see who their team will consist of( 2 rider teams) a course of 8 jumps where faults and speed from both riders will be tallied to see which team has the least faults and the fastest combined time. 14 Costume Jumpers – a course of 8 to 10 jumps to be executed with some sort of costume for the rider or the horse. Rider with least faults and fastest time AND costume originality will be determined the winner. A costume box will be available for riders to choose from OR bring your own! THIS DIVISION IS AN OPEN DIVISION TO BE AWARDED ONE DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP 15. COSTUME CLASS RULES: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Hard hats with chinstraps are required for riding over fences; otherwise protective head gear strongly recommended. Boots with adequate heel required. All riders are required to sign a liability waiver before they compete The organizers and property owners will not be responsible for loss or damage to persons or property. No martigales to be used in any under saddle or flat class. A junior rider is one who is 17 years of age or younger as of January 1st,2012. Competitor number will follow horse and rider combination. In case of bad weather, the organizers reserve the right to alter the course. In all jumping classes, rider with three refusals will be eliminated from that class. Standard 4-H rules will apply in the case of dispute or question DETAILS: Location: Routt County Fairgrounds, 398 South Poplar Street, Hayden Colorado Start Time: Classes Begin at 9 AM, Sunday, September 29 Schooling is from 8:00 to 8:45 AM schooling and at the break after leadline class (for jumping classes) Entry Fees: $10 per class, not to exceed $25 per division, per rider Each participant must submit registration form, equine certificate of health form and activity release form prior to competing English participants are encouraged to wear horse show attire or colorful polo shirts. Western participants are encourage to wear western attire Awards will be presented as close to the completion of each Division based on results from Division classes: 1st=6 points, 2nd=5 points, 3rd=4 points, 4th=3 points, 5th=2 points, 6th=1 point In the event of a tie, the rider who scored the highest total points in over fences classes will determine the Champion or Reserve Champion Lunch will be available on-site for purchase Questions specific to Hunter Jumper Horse Show should be directed to Regina Wendler, Coordinator: 970-846-7505 or regina@commongroundclinics.com
