Money: Everything for eating is provided. You can bring money to cover your personal expenses. The tips
are for ARC France and the Church and need to be put in the metal box provided at the beginning of the
project. (It is the only way ARC France can get enough finance to cover its small expenses and keeps living
:-) ).
Please inform the contact person or the local referent as soon as possible when you are going to arrive
approximately, in order to grant further arrangements for the whole group too. It would also be helpful to
provide a short letter of introduction. The repartition between Saint-Pierre cathedral and Saint-Roch
church will take place at the beginning of the project.
The cathedral of Saint-Pierre was originally attached to the monastery of Saint-Benoît, which was
founded in 1364. The building was elevated to the status of cathedral in 1536, when the see of
Maguelonne was transferred to Montpellier. After the building suffered extensive damage during the
Wars of Religion between Catholics and Protestants in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in the 17th.
The Saint-Roch church is a quite recent church (19th century) dedicated to Saint-Roch which is the
protector of the city of Montpellier.
The city of Montpellier: Montpellier is an extremely pleasant city in summer, next to the Mediterranean Sea.
It is very warm and next to the beach. There will be many tourists. The city is dynamic and young, since
there are many universities and schools.
ARC France and Saint-Pierre Cathedral are looking forward to welcoming you!
