text boxes- a box of text that gives more information
timeline-list of events happening over a period of time
sidebars-gives more information about the text on the side
footnotes-definitions or more info. about a word at
the bottom of the page
5. key words- important vocabulary that is usually in
bold, italics, etc.
6. subheadings- gives more specific information
about what an article will be about
7. appendix- supplemental information found in the
back of the book
8. graphs- shows information and data
9. endnotes-information found at the end of a story
10. captions- explains a photo or illustration
11. headings-title of an article
12. table of contents- this is where you would look to
find chapters, collections, etc.
13. charts- shows information instead of explaining in
great detail
14. glossary-gives definitions in the back of the book
15. maps- shows where things are
16. graphics- pictures
17. index- gives page numbers of where to locate
things in the text
