Feast for Friends

10 am to 7 pm, at the Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre
[on Hwy #44 just past Beausejour]
A day to meet each other in friendship; to learn together; to share stories together; to
play together, to feast together … to become a people who walk together.
All ages are welcome – there will be activities for children, youth and adults.
Activities will include:







A sunrise ceremony Saturday morning;
Sharing circles at the sacred fire
Workshops about treaties and the Indian Act;
Teachings about traditional Aboriginal ways and
values;
Games and crafts;
Sweatlodge to mark the change of seasons;
a feast

Transportation: (We are encouraging folks from Winnipeg to travel
on the buses). The buses will return to the city in the evening.

Lunch and dinner and a snack will be provided. If you have special food needs, please bring what
you need.
Registration Fee: a contribution to our Partnership Action Fund for a future event ~ pay what you
can. (Cheques payable to “Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre – Partnership Action Fund”.)
The maximum number we can accommodate is 150 and we are committed to having a balance of
Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.
Bus transportation from the city will be provided with one bus leaving at 9 AM from North End
Stella at 470 Stella Ave. just north of Dufferin St. at Powers, and another bus leaving at 9 AM fro
Young United Church (Crossways) at 222 Furby St. at Broadway.
Camping will be available for those who want to come on Friday night. You will need to bring your
own camping equipment and bedding. Rooms in lodges available on first-come-first-served basis
at a cost of $55/night.
Photographs/Video will be taken at the Feast for Friends event, to be used as memory or
promotional material in various print and electronic resources and websites of the sponsoring
groups. If you do not wish your photograph to be used for such purposes, please indicate
this on the registration form or contact Joan Jarvis by September 6th, 2013.
