BE IT ENACTED by the Legislative Assembly of Norfolk Island as follows —
Short title
1.
This Act may be cited as the Interpretation (Penalty and Fee Units) Act
1981.
General definitions (amendment of section 12)

Section 12 of the Interpretation Act 1979 is amended by adding at the end 
“(5) In an enactment, a reference to a number (whether whole or fractional) of
‘penalty units’ shall be construed as a reference to the number of dollars obtained by
multiplying $100 by that number of penalty units.
“(6) In an enactment, a reference to a number (whether whole or fractional) of
‘fee units’ shall be construed as a reference to the number of dollars obtained by
multiplying $10 by that number of fee units.”.
