DISTRICT BEHAVIOR ANALYST
QUALIFICATIONS





Master’s Degree, Educational Specialist, or higher, in School Psychology preferred.
Certification by Florida Department of Education in School Psychology.
Three (3) years of experience in education or a related field.
Current Florida driver’s license and/or access to transportation.
Certified Behavior Analyst Certification.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES





Knowledge of technology support applications as related to School Psychologist functions.
Skill in human interaction and conflict management.
Effective skills in oral and written communications.
Ability to plan, organize and prioritize.
Ability to be flexible, handle a variety of tasks, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

POSITION
GOAL
To provide evaluation of student needs through Functional Behavioral Assessments and other appropriate
measures/techniques as adopted by SCPS/ESSS. To develop positive behavioral supports for students as adopted by
SCPS/ESSS. To provide consultation to ensure the appropriate use of behavioral techniques as adopted by SCPS/ESSS.
To provide professional leadership in Applied Behavioral Analysis, inservice, and training activities to schools, parents,
students, and community groups when requested by the principal and as approved by the Director of ESSS.

RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide assessment of students’ behavior through interviews, observations, consultations, and Functional
Behavioral Assessments.
* Develop Positive Behavioral Support Plans to address maladaptive behaviors while teaching and strengthening new
adaptive skills.
* Confer with and/or train staff and administrators, caregivers, and other client groups as appropriate.
* Provide professional leadership to personnel designated to implement positive behavioral support plans.
* Assist the principals, along with the Area Administrator at an informal hearing in the school when there is an impasse
and a Positive Behavioral Support Plan has been implemented or recommended.
* Assist in the development of SAFE schools policies to prevent school violence and increase safety of students,
teachers, and other faculty as approved by the Director of ESSS.
* Advise and assist during suspension and expulsion hearings where a Positive Behavioral Support Plan has been
implemented or recommended as directed by the Director of ESSS.
* Review and determine appropriateness of behavioral interventions as requested.
* Review the need for and appropriateness of restrictive behavioral procedures.
* Consult with the Director of ESSS on cases with special circumstances.
* Participate in department’s staff development activities as directed by the Director of ESSS.
* Complete student assessments or evaluations as directed by the Director or the designee.
Perform other duties/tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

The ability to perceive speech and other environmental sounds at normal loudness levels.
