Southwest Minority Economic Development Association (Santa Ana): SMEDA
provides direct and supportive services to low income and the disadvantaged in areas of food,
clothing, transportation, and shelter needs. A volunteer office assistant is needed to sign-up and
register clients for services.
NAMI Orange County (Santa Ana): NAMI provides emotional support, education and
resources for families affected by mental illness. Volunteer Webmaster needed to upgrade,
update, and maintain Agency's website.
Laura's House (San Clemente): Laura's House helps reduce the incidence of domestic
violence through shelter and support programs, education, and outreach. Volunteers 16 and over
needed to help with childcare, cleaning services, thrift store, computer work, and special projects.
County of Orange Health Care Agency Tobacco Use Prevention Program (Santa
Ana): Volunteers 14 and over interested in tobacco control needed to participate in the youth
coalition (youth only). Adults needed to serve on committees, do public speaking, and do survey
work.
Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (Santa Ana): MAOF provides
comprehensive support services to families. Volunteers 18 and over needed as office aides,
teacher aides, to assist in youth programs.
Ocean Institute (Dana Point): To explore the boundaries of effective educational techniques
appropriate not just to students but also to the general public. Volunteers 16 and over needed.
Aids Services Foundation (Irvine): ASF provides physical, mental, emotional, and
educational support to those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County. Emotional
support volunteers 21 and over needed to encourage the client to build a support system. This is a
6 month program with a 19 hour training program (must pass an interview).
The Albor School (Santa Ana): Offers GED classes and other services for low income
individuals. Volunteers needed to work in child care facilities.
American Heart Association (Irvine): Mission is to reduce disability and death from
cardiovascular diseases and stroke. College students needed as health fair volunteers.
Boat People S.O.S. (Westminster): Their mission is to provide relief, assistance, and
support to Vietnamese refugees and immigrants in the search for freedom and dignified life.
College interns, esl instructor, and grant writer needed.
Bridge Learning Center for Homeless Children (Laguna Beach): The Bridge Learning
Center provides one on one mentoring of homeless children. Mentors needed to go to various
shelters in Orange county.
Catholic Charities of Orange County (Santa Ana): An office assistant is needed to do light
typing, data entry, answering phones, making copies, etc.
City of Irvine (Irvine): Volunteers 16 and over needed to help with a variety of special events
and upcoming projects.
Costa Mesa Senior Center (Costa Mesa): Volunteers needed in a variety of different
capacities--including individuals qualified to take blood pressure.
Court Appointed Special Advocates (Garden Grove): CASA provides quality advocacy for
children through a unique one-on-one relationship between a trained and supervised volunteer to
an abused, abandoned, or neglected child. Adult volunteers needed as mentors.
Global Operations Development (Placentia): Their mission is to send relief to the poor
and needy worldwide, focusing on healthcare needs by supplying medical equipment, supplies,
and training. A volunteer webmaster is needed.
H. Louis Lake Senior Center (Garden Grove): Volunteers 16 and over needed to perform a
variety of different duties at this multi-purpose senior center.
Human Options (Irvine): Human options helps battered women, their families, and the
community break the cycle of domestic violence. An office volunteer is needed to assist with
clerical tasks in the administrative offices.
Irvine Adult Day Services (Irvine): Their mission is to provide seniors and disabled adults
services designated to maintain their mobility, independence and psychosocial functioning.
Volunteers needed as kitchen aids to monitor, assist with special diets, and clean up.
Irvine Animal Care Center (Irvine): Volunteers 14 and over needed to work at the center.



Jack Orchard ALS Foundation (Laguna Hills): Student volunteers 16 and over needed to
assist patients in their homes with non-medical tasks. Adult mentors needed to supervise these
students.
Orange Public Library (Orange): Volunteers 16 and over needed to help in the "Reading
Zone", an after school homework center to promote reading. Volunteers will read to kids and
help them with their homework.
Orangewood Children's Foundation: Educational mentors 21 and over needed to meet
twice a month with foster youth to prepare them for college.
