The Great Biscuit Mystery

Wildlife centre hit by biscuit burglars

Staff at Greenwich Wildlife Centre go hungry as a mysterious biscuit burglar is still at large. A tin full of freshly baked biscuits has been stolen from the centre this morning. The cakes were for teachers to eat during their afternoon tea break and had been left out in the kitchen waiting for their return!

A spokesperson for the centre said there was no time to make new biscuits and unless they could be found then the teachers would be unable to have their afternoon tea break when they returned to the Centre cold and hungry from a day’s fieldwork.

Unlike previous thefts of biscuits from the Centre this time the reckless robber left behind a clue.

A muddy footprint was found on the floor of the

Three members of Centre staff are under suspicion; they all have the right size feet to match the wellington print and were known to have been working outside before the time the cakes were stolen. Mr Rusty McNale – the caretaker, had been fixing weather reading equipment in Greenwich Park. Mr Will Barrow, the site manager, had been checking a site in the

Wildlife centre and Miss Cal Clator, the education assistant, had been setting up an activity near the playground.

Police say that by carefully examining the soil from the footprint and matching it against soil from the three areas where the suspects had been working, it should be possible to identify the culprit and return the biscuits to the staff.
