Please emphasize level 2 and 3 musicianship (dynamics, articulation, phrasing, tone quality). Percussion1. Record the following excerpts if they are your part using the recording on Smartmusic: Spirit!: 25-33 (snare), 40-43 (tom), 96-104 (bells), 120-127 (all), 142-148 (mallets), 156 (timpani) 2. Record the following with a metronome and the Smartmusic recorder: Mallets: Record Etude #1 at tempo = 100 Snare: Record Etude #2 at tempo = 84 Slur #5 at a tempo of your choice (recommended tempo of 80) Kinard Bands Symphonic Band Recording Test #3 Due: Sunday, April 1st, Midnight Point Value: 100 points Recordings turned in late will lose points! Recording Procedure: 1. Record each excerpt using the Smartmusic recordings (students without Smartmusic will have to record on a separate recording device). 2. NEW DIRECTIONS!!!!- DO NOT state your name at the beginning of the track. Rather cue up the recording 2-3 measures before you play start the recording and play. 3. Play everything with the recording on and audible. 4. Once you have recorded a track that you like, save a folder on your computer’s desktop, and click the mp3 button on Smartmusic. Label the track with your name AND the excerpt name Ex. “Perez, Honor Band Minor Scale.mp3” 5. Listen to your recording! Make certain that it recorded. 6. Email me your recordings to perezband@gmail.com NOT my school email! (I would prefer all of them on one email if possible, but if it won’t let you, send two emails {even three if necessary}) 7. Students without Smartmusic should only save the takes they want on their cassette tapes. This means record a take and if you don’t like it rewind to the beginning of that take and record again. Advice: Practice these now and record one excerpt every couple of days so that this does not become overwhelming to you! Advice for Perfectionists: This assignment should not take more than four hours total over the next week and a half (approximately 15-20 minutes per excerpt). More wisdom: Students that procrastinate on this type of test really struggle and get stressed out. START NOW. Do not wait until Sunday, December 11th to do this! Last bit of wisdom: DON’T PROCRASTINATE!!!!!!!
