The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace,
justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Circle of Friends
Composed of influential professionals from prominent businesses throughout the City
of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, the Circle of Friends (COF) is critical to the
success of the YWCA. Each year, COF members support the YWCA through individual
and collective fundraising efforts to fund various YWCA programs and events and by
recruiting additional volunteers.
Circle of Friends members have raised more than $3,000,000 in contributions over the past four years.
Leader Luncheon
The YWCA Leader Luncheon honors individuals for outstanding achievement in their chosen
career fields and one leader for a commitment to racial justice. The YWCA Leader Luncheon is
one of Chicago’s most prestigious salutes to exceptional leaders. When YWCA Metropolitan
Chicago launched Leader Luncheon in 1972, honoring women for their career achievements
was a bold, pioneering concept. Today the life stories of the honorees continue to captivate the
1,300 people, mostly women, who attend the luncheon each year.
Circle of Friends Leadership Responsibilities





Work toward soliciting at least 1 Honor Circle table.
Serve as the liaison between the YWCA and corporate prospects/donors.
Provide regular updates to your team leader regarding solicitation status.
Assist in recruiting other Circle members.
Help achieve the Circle of Friends team goal established by the members and COF’s team
leader.
 Recommend people for event invitation and solicitation lists.
 Raise the awareness of the YWCA
Circle of Friends Team Leader Responsibilities





Recruit and manage a dedicated team of fundraising volunteers.
Personally solicit gifts. Sign solicitation and acknowledgement letters as needed.
Provide updates to Circle of Friends Chair regarding solicitation status.
Serve as the liaison between the YWCA, volunteers, and corporate prospects.
Establish a Circle of Friends team goal with your volunteers and work toward achieving or
exceeding your goal.
 Recommend people for event invitation and solicitation lists.
