












NWS issues Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches due to KDBI exceeding
600 coupled with forecast for fast moving thunder storms and high winds in
immediate forecast
o EOCs closely monitoring weather with staff on standby for activation
o PIO working with media to inform public of dangers with approaching storms,
precautions to take, etc.
o Resources identified for response
o Coordination between county, cities, private sector
Storms moving into area with high winds, heavy rain, and lightning strikes
o Power lines, trees down prompting response from Public Works,
Transportation, Law Enforcement agencies
o Traffic congestion and accidents prompting response from LE, EMS
o Injuries from fallen debris
San Mateo County Public Safety Communications receives report of fire breakout
and rapidly expanding in rural area near central coast a few miles S/SE of Half Moon
Bay
San Mateo County and Half Moon Bay EOCs activated
o Coordination between county and city
o Notification to public of fire and details
o ESF 4/Fire response to fire
o Identification of residences, infrastructure, and businesses in path of fire
o Evacuation decision and implementation
Incident Command Established near scene of fire
Evacuations of residences, businesses in path of fire underway
Evacuation Center / Shelter openings
Fire continues to approach City of Half Moon Bay
o Heavy smoke along Pacific Coast Highway, Pelican Point RV Park, Canada
Senior Mobile Home Park, Half Moon Bay Golf Course causing problems
o LE sets up traffic control/access along PCH and other major roadways
Communications issues due to overload
Injuries due to accidents, smoke inhalation, fires – hospitals emergency departments
becoming overcrowded
Response resources (Fire, EMS, LE, PW, etc.) low and additional resource support
needed
City/County Declaration of Emergency
